What team has a better halfback? DCE is probably the best at the moment but has quite a few games where he is invisible/ineffective, Mitchel Pearce falls apart under any pressure, Cooper Cronk is a great kicker and game manager but doesn't offer much else. Nathan Cleary looked good until he was selected for Origin 2018 and it seems to have shattered his confidence, Chad Townsend alternates between lukewarm and freezing. Ben Hunt has confidence issues and goes missing for weeks, Jake Turpin? Jack Cogger? Blake Green? Aiden Sezer? Jake Clifford? Ash Taylor? Brodie Croft? Mitchell Moses?
I'm pretty sure anyone that doesn't rate Brooks would be whinging even more about any other 7.
Brooks has never been able to manage a game or kick well consistently ... he’s Ash Taylor without the sooking. Heaps of teams have better halfbacks ... your comparisons are a joke.
Teams with better halfbacks on current form:
* Rabbitohs - Adam Reynolds
* Roosters - Cooper Cronk
* Sea Eagles - Daly Chery-Evans
* Eels - Mitchell Moses (only this season, has been woeful in past seasons)
* Knights - Mitchell Pearce
And then Luke Brooks sits right below this lot.
People who keep saying he doesn't run the ball...check the bloody stats. No half runs the ball more than Luke Brooks. He sits 10th for ALL runs (251 in 16 games). The next best is Pearce at 50th (198 in 15 games). Source: https://www.nrl.com/stats/players/?competition=111&season=2019&stat=1000038
When it comes to the game management arguments, we have 2 other senior players who both failed to kick the ball into touch in the Melbourne game earlier in the year. Both of whom actually kicked the ball in the closing stages of that match!
And then there's Brooks' defence, which is fantastic for a halfback, no other way to describe it.
Like it or not, Brooks is here to stay, and there's nobody better running around at the moment who could reasonably replace him. If you back a rookie to do the job, have fun waiting 3+ years for that to bear fruit.
But we’ve already waited 6 years for brooks to bear fruit .
How much longer do we have to wait ?
Please tell !
