He's not great at 9 to be honest. Service is just a bit better than Taylors but nothing special. Much better at 6 in my opinion.

Would be interesting to see Madge trial Reynolds/Benji/Brooks at 6/7/9 respectively sometime in the match since our season is done anyway.

I actually believe that
6. Reynolds
7. Benji
9. Brooks

Is the only option for the next couple of weeks, ET is the worse hooker I've seen but Reynolds is the 2nd worst.

Do you really think you can just stick Brooks at hooker - where he's never played - and he'll suddenly be good there? He'll magically have the instincts and energy to get to the PTB's, pass from the ground and select the right options? That he'll instantly handle the increased defensive workload? I wouldn't move him to hooker at any stage because he's too good a half in my view but if I were going to make the move it would be following a full off season to ready him for it...

Yep ..... some people are just a bit naive.

Josh Reynolds has said he harbours no ill feeling towards Michael Maguire and says progress is being made on his future — although he’s keeping coy on that matter.

Reynolds has spent most of the season in reserve grade, with the Wests Tigers coach preferring to use Luke Brooks and Benji Marshall in the halves

But injuries to Robbie Farah and Jacob Liddle have prompted Maguire to bring Reynolds in from the cold for the weekend’s crunch clash with the Newcastle Knights.

Speaking on League Life on Fox League, Reynolds detailed how their relationship remained strong despite the club telling the $800k-per-year halfback he was free to leave.

“Madge has been really good and honest with me, that’s all I can ask for,” said Reynolds.

“He hasn’t beat around the bush, he’s said it’s going to be tough for you to break back in. But if there’s an opportunity there I’m not going to not put you in.

“I’ve got over my knee injury and then not been able to get back into the side, I’ve been playing Canterbury Cup, but in a weird way I’ve really enjoyed going back there and playing with some guys, it’s given me some perspective.

My conversations with Madge have changed over the last couple of days.

“People think there’s a bit of a beef, because Madge and the club have come out and said they’re fine for me to look elsewhere for next year.

“So people think there’s a tiff there or something but people don’t realise that, that’s the way footy goes these days and it doesn’t mean that I walk past and don’t talk to him. I’ve been lucky enough to play 140-odd games, I still like to have input. I’ve not been pushed out to the side, so that’s probably why it’s easy for me to come back in this week.

When he was told he could leave the Tigers, Reynolds was instantly linked with a return to Canterbury.

But the playmaker insists he hasn’t made any plans to leave the club, although he declared that his manager is working to see if other clubs might be interested in his services.

“I’m still a bit old school in that I’m really waiting until the season is over because I think if I’m thinking about where I’m going to be next year it’s not fair on my teammates,” said Reynolds.

“It’s a bit selfish to think about next year rather than this week.

I feel a bit guilty if I did do that, mind you my manager is doing a bit of work in the background but I try to keep out of it.

“I know that’s a cliche, all players say that, ‘and I’m like yeah right’.

“But I’ve got to get ready this Saturday for a massive game, if I’m thinking where I’m going to be that’s not fair on my teammates.”

@WT2K It's just such a shame Ivan signed him for so much for so long. He could have been a great buy for us at 400k with no injuries.

Good luck to him.

Look Josh Reynolds is a nice guy. His biggest asset as a footballer is his energy he brings to a game. This is can be a double edged sword as his over enthusiasm does come with brain explosion errors. Josh is not the most talented or a top shelf footballer, his true salary is in the $300-$400k p.a. max…If he had signed with the Tigers for that amount they would not be shopping him around….It looks like there is little interest for Josh at his current contract term 2 years left at $800k p.a., so, if I were Josh I’d be going in and having a talk with the Tigers and seek to cancel the current contract and re-negotiate a 3 year term at $400k p.a….I bet they would jump at that

Why would Reynolds try to renegotiate a 2 year contract worth $1.6m for a 3 year contract worth $1.2m?

Because he 1) Wants to play first grade 2) no other club is keen on him 3) The tigers need a 5/8 after Benji retires 4) Josh openly states iits not just about the money

He might be more inclined to do something like that if Benji would finish up this year like he should, otherwise why would Grub agree to do that

So Packer , Matulino , Reynolds , McQueen and Mbye must all be just about gone at full price by now ??

The other 15 NRL clubs must have broken the door down by now

The ESL can't get agents out to Australia quick enough ...

The whole point that no one is mentioning is that Josh has had three injury riddled years and that’s the main reason why he hasn’t been featuring in more 1st grade matches - his inability to string a few games together.

That’s why he is overpriced and obviously the market sees this way too.

@WT2K A few lessons in class and tact could be learnt from this guy. I hope my son grows up to be as patient and respectful when things don't turn his way as Josh has been.

There's a few hard task masters on here, I feel he's not a bad "fill in" to drag out of the lower grades to cover hooker. Hopefully the team will have a different feel about it with Josh in it, and hopefully he makes it through the game injury free.

So instead you put Reynolds there? When Liddle 1st got injured last week there was a set of 6 where Brooks did play at dummy half, the service was much better than anything Reynolds can provide. Reynolds is not a hooker and you are doing him a disservice playing him there. Brooks on the other hand can provide an option there.

I'm really pulling for JRey these next few weeks.

This will increase his chances of finding a club and be a win win for both parties....

@tigerap why did he leave the Bulldogs if it wasn't for the money?

Because they had to get rid of him because they were over the cap.

So why wouldn't he get as much money for signing with another club as he could.

Be an idiot if he didn't.

@Russell Reynolds was off contract at the Dogs when he came to us, they are chipping in for Mbye contract , not JRey

We are short on options so we need to trust our coach. He’s seeing Reynolds train and he has been selected so first up let him play the next three weeks because we haven’t seen him play three in a row much at all in his time at the club. Not much point trying to experiment with Brooks at 9 in the last three rounds if we think we are still a chance. That’s one for the pre season if it has merit and Reynolds stays on our books.

He is a terrible hooker!

Not big enough to be a forward
Not fast enough to be a back
Not skillfull enough to be a half
That only leaves hooker.

He very nearly ran down slimy in round one after a very long chase from memory. And the little jerk has a good start on him too.

@Russell when Reynolds left the Dogs there was nothing about the Dogs so called "salary cap crisis" which is made up anyway as a smokescreen for their new board.
Also Reynolds was offered a a new contract at $500k pa x 2.
He opted for the 750k x 4 plus car that WT offered.
