Tigers = TV Ratings

Was just listening to 2GB and they were talking to Channel 9 head of sports, Steve Crawley. They asked him about the decision to play the Tigers/Panthers game first up in Sydney as opposed to Lockyer's 350th game.

Amongst other things, Crawley was saying that the Tigers always rate well on TV and, in fact, last night's game vs the Panthers was the 4th highest TV audience this year on Friday night footy.

I reckon that there are a lot of people who aren't necessarily Tigers fans who love watching us because of the way we play the game. Gould said during the week that Benji was the biggest drawcard in the NRL. Seems Channel 9 and the viewing public love the Tigers too!

I think we have a fair amount of supporters who don't live in Sydney, which would help with the ratings

They have to get rid of the 2nd friday night game and move it to saturday afternoon, 90% of the time its the stupid broncos they show anyway

i dont think they would ever show 2 qld teams at 7.30pm on friday in sydney over 2 sydney teams.

Without bias i still think WT is the most popular side in the NRL with a huge geographically wide following. Both magpies and balmain fans plus new generation wt fans.

They would not have won over any new fans on last nights effort. The game reminded me of some of those shocking Saturday afternoon games the ABC use to show, Balmain vrs gold coast. Like root canal therapy–painfull

I'd prefer to watch a painful Saturday afternoon NRL game as opposed to a 1 sided, horribbly covered Shute Shield game!
