I remember the days when some people were screaming to get him punted, **oh how times have changed**.

So has the brand of football the team is/was playing (last season at least)…see the relevance?

Totally see where you're coming from with that Ink and 100% agreed but you have to realise that during the days when people wanted him punted he was overseeing the development of players such as Galloway, Dwyer, Lui, Fifita and Moltzen then brought in players like Ellis, Brown and Daniella to form the squad we have now. Everything has culminated to what we have now. Would we have had this team with another coach? I guess we'll never know but would you or anyone else want to take that chance now in hindsight?

Junior development doesnt stop because of a change in the coaching staff, the quality and intensity of it may vary, Sheens already has knowledge of his juniors another coach wouldve had to learnt of….the benefit he has through being here for as long as he has. He was and has been good in most areas for the club, but for four seasons - results - was one area he wasnt.

Tim Sheens :-
2 semis appearances in 15 years.

1 Golden ring…..

How many does Brian Smith have......duckegg

Tim's a great negotiator - He is virtually guaranteed a few more years of success now that all the processes and players are maturing. If he jumps it would be for short term gain only.

Tigers is one of the places to be @ least for the next 5 years.

Im a very happy to have him at the helm.

Exactly geo.

Im sure tigers will re sign him and they mad if they dont.

I find it funny how he only mentions the cowboys stint and not include what he did at penrith or canberra.Does it all the time…....How you sit with them i dont know.

If you didnt include the cowboys stint where he couldnt buy players or even pick players he wanted in the team then he has a very good record.

We were robbed last year in the semis and still run 3rd so i think that is a very successful season.

The only difference between last year and years gone by where we run 9th and 10th is we had hardly any injuries to key players and our defence has improved somewhat WHICH HAD WON US A FEW CLOSER GAMES that we were losing in 06,07,08,09,

Ok Tiger4ever, I will include what he did at Canberra. He won comps with what is now revealed as a team that was deliberately about $500000 over the salary cap each time. That is the equivalent to over $2million dollars a year over in today's money. So he cheated. Take those comps away and what does he have? Take Scott Prince away in 2005 and what do you have?

 if you take hits nuts away bug, he'd only be a Tennis Coach…

1\. Brett Hodgson
2\. Daniel Fitzhenry
3\. Shane Elford
4\. Paul Whatuira
5\. Pat Richards
6\. Benji Marshall
7\. Scott Prince
8\. Anthony Laffranchi
9\. Robbie Farah
10\. John Skandalis
11\. Ben Galea
12\. Mark O'Neill
13\. Dene Halatau

14\. Liam Fulton
15\. Chris Heighington
16\. Bryce Gibbs
17\. Todd Payten

Take any of those players out of the equation in 2005 and we wouldn't have made it.

Canberra didn't breach the salary cap in 1994 either, and they weren't the only club to have breached the salary cap that year in 1990.

The only person that could have potentially been a good replacement for Sheens was Kearney, and he is taken now.

There is no way we should let Sheensy go.

I heard that Wayne Bennett is open to offers?? Self-LOL

Sheens is an exceptional coach, 4 premierships and another around the corner.

Sheens brought all the young guys through, & now we are getting dividends. rowdy is happy @ wests tigers but if sheens goes i have a horrible feeling he goes to. so lock up sheens & lawrence stays as well.

No one is indescribable, even coach Sheens. Okay at the right price and a few minimum bench marks written into the contract I agree he is the man to coach us for the next few years BUT if he asking a kings ransom and wants no conditions attached to the contract, well maybe it is time to look else where. If Rusty is in the market, his price will be very high and might just out price himself.

Theirs always other options like Folkes,Brown,Dymock are a few that come to mind and lets face it they only have to build on what Sheens devolped, its not like they are starting off with a basket case.

What a team….that Sheens built.....its taken 5 years to build it bigger better stronger...something all normal clubs do after winning a comp.....we are about to reap the benefits in the next 5 years...

Big thanks to Sheens and Humphreys for what we are about to see as WESTS Tigers supporters....he can stay as long as he wants IMO.........the WT Board on the other hand can go get.........................................................bleeeeeeeeeeeeeep

Article on SMH today saying that Benji, Farah and Gibbs would walk away if Tim was forced out last year by not making the finals.

Think that is the most worrying thing if Tim doesn't stay, who does he take with him.

I know that some of the guys are on longer contracts than Sheens but there are always get out clauses.

Lol canberra were over the cap but bug back in the late 80s and early 90s i think every team that was cashed up were also over the cap its just they didnt get caught.500 over the cap pmsl.

Tell me for 20 years that bennett coached the broncos they wernt over the cap with half of the aussie team in them…..please

You mention prince well sheens is the one that gave him his first chance at the cowboys so he seen that he had talent long before we all did.

Yes I agree with some of these points. But I will only be happy with the Fonz if he gets the results on the paddock. Something he himself has not been used to doing in the last **FIFTEEN YEARS !!!!!.**.

u serious bug - it took us fifteen years to get here - rome wasnt built in a day. sheens had us in the grand final last year if it werent for the referee. Have you forgotten to what happened to Wests in 1978 against Manly at the SCG when hartley politicized the match. rugby league died a little that day. But it was different in the Balmain Canberra grand final because Warren Ryan was the undoing, maggies had no choice. We went through war back then. But now we are back on our feet, so apart from bellamy or bennett who do think can lead us into the future? please dont say Mescia

There was no cap in the late 80's. The cap was brought in because Canberra sent themselves broke paying too much for players and winning premierships in the late 80's.

Whilst the cap does a great job of keeping a level playing field, the original purpose of the cap was to stop clubs going broke.

Wrong Glenn - Canberra were fined by the league in 1990 for being over the cap in 89!!!!

That is a FACT!!!!
