Tigers want to lock up Sheens before rivals come knocking

is it just possible that the team did not follow instructions or just did not play well .

I'm the biggest Sheens supporter ever but when Benji comes out after the game and says that they were following the game plan and it didn't work then yes, you have to put some of the blame on Tim for that. When it comes to the poor execution of the game plan dished out by the players then you have to say they need to wear the rest of the blame.

Because Benji said the game plan was ruck it up with a good kick chase. That is pathetic.

Sounds like sound ,smart and simple tactics for round 1 And we could not even do that properly . How would we have gone with something complicated ????

One game one loss hardly time to start calling for the coaches head. I like plenty of others question his selection of Utai and to a lesser extent McKinnon but they did not loose the game for us, it was lost in the forwards and our kicking game was rubbish. I get the feeling their are plenty of under done players at present due injuries

Benji did confirm that they were following the game plan.

in regards to the goal kicking, benji started slowly last year as well but by the end othe season goal kicking wasn't an issue on the forum.

I didn't see the actual game only heard it on the radio so i can't judge how hard the kicks were and how much he missed them by, but listening to the radio the tries scored, other then his own were out to the side correct?

I'm not calling for his head, in fact I hope he re-signs asap. All I'm pointing out is that his game wasn't right and he needs to shoulder some of the blame for last night's loss.

Yeah the kicks where hard from the sidelines both of them, which he missed both of them, only kicked the one from my his own try which was in front of the sticks. His kicking in general play wasnt the best either, kicking down the throat of ben barba all the time, or kicking the ball dead, its no good at all.

Clearly, simple is not better. We still need to play to our strengths. This game plan took Robbie completely out of the game.

So you think Sheens had a game plan to leave Robbie out the point I am making is we could not do simple things right last night . if we had a different, more complicated game plan you think we could carry that out either . Get over it It is round 1 Sure the tigers will probably have another game we are not happy about as well . So sheens told benji to continually kick the ball dead . Forwards not to show up in either defence or attack If you think that what Sheens told the team to do you don't know rugby league

I want Sheens to be the coach
However I wanna see results & I want the hard decisions to be made if needed !
Players dropped due to poor form and so on.
No time wasting.

No-one is calling for Sheens head, but my guess is in a buyers market Sheens (at his age & stage)is looking for a long term, big $$$ contract,& theres strong support from some quarters to give him just that.Other teams may do so.
All Im saying is Sheens recent record ,& illogical decision making selection & recruitment,of which we had a stark reminder last nite, doesnt warrant such long term committment
One year at a time until we show some sustainable results

Im so sick of these threads this is why i dont post on here much anymore its annoying. We made the semis last year 1 game off and its round 1 for F sake.

Chris they did say it was a kick and chase type tactics but the kicking game was pathetic everything either went straight down the throat or went dead in goal and when it didnt the chase was very poor so in a way they didnt exactly follow instructions. No energy or enthusiasm is what i thought was the problem.

His recent record got us 1 point from the grand final, one loss and you want to go on the defensive and sign him to a one year contract after he builds a team that we have now? Why?

I agree with you 100% all I'm saying that his game plan for us didn't work last night and has to shoulder some of the blame. I'm not saying we're done for and we have no hope, I just wanted to point out he made a mistake last night as did the players too. Like Alan Jones says "The dogs are barking but the caravan moves on." Is there anything wrong with having an opinion that Tim used the wrong game plan?

These arguments are always cyclical.

The only changes this season is the name Utai for Fitzhenry and the fall back of making the finals last year instead of we won the premiership in 2005

I just happen to think that last nite was a small but perfectly formed showcase of some of the dumb-arse coaching decisions that sentenced us to the boondocks for 4 consecutive years,& am looking for some balanced decisionmaking that takes all the facts(and Sheens total record) into account rather than the euphoria of a handful of games at the end of last season.

No there isnt but was that the gameplan and was it followed if it was is what im saying.

Sheens is a very poor coach and this is reflected by his disgraceful winning ratio since the inception of the NRL. It is the lowest of any coach who has been coaching by more than 2 years.

He never learns from his mistakes. He has one of the lowest winning percentage in the history of Rugby League.

How people here support his coaching I will never know.

I am sure that it is only one game and i hope that this will not happen again this week against the warriors who do not have manu vatuvei. We will see how we go.
