I thought I read somewhere that Benji waived his right to the get out clause in his last contract??
My guess is that having lost Bennett, Rusty is prepared to commit to a big $$,long term contract for a "name" coach like Sheens, which given Sheen's results over past few years we couldnt/shouldnt do unless he actually earns it with a very high finish this year.
Given these options,Sheens was always likely to take the money & run, & avoid scrutiny & accountability.
If he leaves we get some fresh ideas, hopefully a sensible recruitment & selection strategy, & someone who will actually address ongoing issues that never get fixed.
It gets better than that..Souths get someone who will almost automatically eliminate them as genuine contenders for the next 3 years!!
Win/win
