Tigers want to lock up Sheens before rivals come knocking

I have never forgiven Sheens for letting Teo go. Seriously :unamused: Talk about clutching at straws.

I wouldn't say Sheens has been perfect, but in my opinon he has done far more good than bad.

Te'o sucks… are you serious?
He's 18th man for QLD, so what...
@ Club level, he's so average.

He is on bench at Broncos and Broncos don't have the best forward pack running around So much for becoming at 80 minute man @Broncos Only does anything when you are near opponents try line I doubt he would make our top 13 when we are at full strength

Was a failed attempt at sarcasm it seems Demps. I was trying to say that Teo's effort in his last season with us was bordering on criminal, and anyone who thinks him being let go is one of Sheens failings is kidding themselves.

Given the good news about Lawrence's long-term deal, bit hard to see Sheens leaving now - But we stranger things have happened.

I hope Sheens stays, i have loved the Sheens years.

If money talks and he goes to Souths.

My personal choices would be Nath Brown, I know he didn't get Saints over the line, but I think his time in England and coaching players he did not play with him will improve him, I also like his style

The other 2 i suggested on another thread is Matt Cameron and Mick Potter, I also like the idea of MgGuire as well.

I've heard people say Phl Gould, the game has moved so far away from Phil Gould it is not funny, he is not the option

Goose, you're starting to live up to your name! If Nathan Brown became our coach we are gooooone!

well in his time at Saints (albeit with a good side) he made what 3 or 4 pre-lim finals, he has now won a challenge cup and premiership in the UK, His sides have always played an open attractive style, suited to our current playing roster.
I personally believe he was too close to his playing career when coaching at saint, and still did a good job. I'd happily have him at the tigers.

Now you justify to me, why suggesting he coach makes me a Goose…...(not that I take offence to the name in any way)

he wont be going anywhere. why would he leave now after all the work he has put in building the club up to a point where we should see some Major success over the next few years. He is paid well and barring Souths offering him over 1 million a season he has no real reason to go.

Some players just dont respond to certain coaching styles & if the coach is staying its better for everyone that they move on.
We cld all see the talent they had,but fact is Harrison,Teo,O'Donnell & others were very ordinary under Sheens & blossomed elsewhere.Good coaches like Bellamy /Bennett do the opposite & consistently make good players out of modest talent.
Optimal replacement for Sheens is McGuire or Daniel Anderson, with Folkes a fallback as not quite sure his style is optimal for Tigers playing roster
Gould wont get out of the comfy confines of the commentary box where he's never wrong,Brown & Potter havent done enough,& the others arent winners

What about Royce Simmons with Folkes as an assistant ??

Royce is very nice but not for us… As Defensive coach his results werent that good.

Anyone can be bought (especially in sport), the only thing that varies from person to person is the amount.

We're all prostitudes on some level, otherwise we'd be living in the street.

Just heard from a mate who has links to one of Souths Directors and the word is they have made no formal approach to Sheens as yet. Bennett is their number 1 target at the moment.

Well that is very good to hear.

This could be true, but i'm a director of a company and i can tell you if you're doing negotiations behind the scene you don't admit it. You say you have had no contact. Look what happened with Bennett and the Roosters.

can you clarify that comment more Icon ??Are you saying that people can't do something for the love of it and be honourable and get what your happy with for doing that ???

Happy… Being the director of Coaching at a NRL Franchise is way past the old adage "for the love of the game". You are referring to 'Sport', and unfortunately, NRL has very little to do with sport. It is big business and the major players would be foolish to firstly not shop themselves around, and too not demand more return for thier Time/Investment...

Brian Smith is the best in the business, basically because he realised a long time ago he has something to offer any NRL Franchise, and lives by the adage "Show me the Money"... Bennett, Sheens & Smith are on 3-4 times that of thier good players!!!

The club is bigger than any player or coach.

If Sheens goes, good luck to him, but the way some people are carrying on its as if there is no other coach good enough for us. What rubbish.

Who wouldn't want to coach us: we have one of the best rosters in the NRL, and most of them are locked up on long term contracts.

There is a converse to that Hybrid. The people carrying on as if Sheens has somehow destroyed this club. What rubbish!

He came here when we were the lowest of the low and we now have, in my view, one of the the best squads in the NRL, as well as a premiership. Whether Sheens' approach will get us another premiership with this squad I am not sure. I have concerns over how he uses backrowers and the balance of his bench.

But anyone who denies Sheens positive' legacy with this club is not a true fan and more importantly is deluded.

You blokes dont really believe in Loyalty much do you….

Posters like Bug, Hybrid, furgiefurr, are extremely passionate about the club and are bottom line driven ie WIN FOOTBALL GAMES....and that's fine

Me....... I follow the club for it's culture...prior to Sheens we had none...now with the assistance of Humphreys we have the WT cubs program that identifies and secures great young talent...8 Australian Schoolboy reps amongst the 20's this year.....then you have first grade players go to another country to ease cap pressure from previous admin ....before you get busted for rorting....What other Club does that

A maturing side tha icludes Benji Marshall, Robbie Farah, Gareth Ellis, Lote Tiqiri and just about to resign the best young talents in the game Chris Lawrence for 5 years something the pre Sheens recruitment team would have no chance of doing and they had MILLIONS.....

but we lost round 1 :rant over

I agree of course that Sheens left this club in a much much better state then when he found it, and for that and of course the premiership in 05 I will always be thankful. There is no doubt the man can coach, even if I don't agree with alot of his decisions.

I however think he has been here too long, and anyone after so long in one place can get stale, so if he decides to leave good luck to him. I think a fresh change will be a positive thing.
