I only looked into it because the way they were using him was sooo weird in my eyes. Again there’s always going to be politics but I just think it was too disappointing to see how obvious the politics was for Johannssen and I can’t imagine any reason as to why he , or bud, or any player in his position would want anything to do with the club. I guess being a free agent means clubs sell you short or something cause that’s the only common denominator I see with why he got shunned out ?? Form isn’t a question cause again he started getting shunned from rd 1, despite his performance in comparison with the other middles. I think Johannssen will do well at any club he goes to, if developed properly. Just very disappointing from our tigers side that this is another player they let go from poor development and it’s more disappointing with the lack of effort they show in trying to not make it so obvious. The culture needs to change if we really are a strong club. Legacy is nothing if the legacy is just bought and not taught or developed. We cant just keep buying top players and forgetting about our development and treating them so poorly. We wonder why we buy a dream team but don’t play like a dream team……It’s a terrible legacy to have imo and the club is obviously in shambles. I think there is a major problem when there’s drama not only in first grade, but also down in the juniors. It shows a lack of connection in leadership across the whole board with coaching staff from all grades and devisions. Again, after watching TJ closely since rd 1 after his year last year as well, it really put the spotlight on tigers and its politics and lack of care for players.

Aside from Galvin, where's the drama in first grade?
 
I can see that many people are wondering why someone like TJ would decline in form or confidence as quick as he has...From my perspective I will give you some of my experiences albeit a fair while ago since I played...
When I first got to Group nine I was given a trial and assessment in my first year..I went on to getting a 2 year deal that was extended to 6 years..
How did this come about...It was the people around me Coaches that took the time to show me how to improve my game and cope with the changes from Union back to league..
The first grade coach took me aside and showed me many things to work on ,he didn't just coach FG he involved himself with all the players firsts through to 18s..
This sounds simplistic albeit country football,but NRL level even though professional football,players need help in many aspects of THEIR game,maybe this wasn't offered to TJ while going through the tougher ranks ..just my opinion...cheers ..

The Galvin thing might be one thing, but boy was it big and did it show the colours of tigers culture with the LEADING players running a muck about it. Again I wonder why when Dylan brown announced his signing, the same sort of drama didn’t happen ??? Not to mention the top 30 and dev players. All I’m saying is if we want a strong and positive club, this kinda stuff can’t keep on happening and going on under the radar. It creates a very toxic culture. And it wouldn’t just be players like TJ who have to deal with it, but imagine how obvious it is to the other players. Seeing their teammate do so well and kill it then get shunned out of nowhere. It’s obviously a signal to them that it’s not just about good footy. Then this gets players worried about agents and what not and their position at a club etc. What kind of culture does that create ? Could it be a reason why cup always seems to appear so disconnected ?? You have to wonder what goes on in the background to dish out poor performances….. If tigers are so obvious with players like TJs exit, I wonder what their not obvious about….idk I understand if they genuinely didn’t see TJ as a good prop for the club and he dropped his form etc…… but again the exit was being chased before his “poor form”. I wonder if (looking back at it now) if that’s what happened to players who “suddenly” went to crap but for some reason still choose to stay.????

Okay. Galvin accused his coach, publicly, of issues that he had with him. That's what turned the players off him. Plus his manager has maaaaad form with this stuff. That's what created the issues. It was going public and the Tigers beat them to the punch.

It is completely different from Dylan Brown in every way because Dylan announced where he was going, contractually could negotiate, did not air any dirty laundry and didn't agitate for a release by doing it. His manager didn't then make false claims on behalf of other players about bullying to try to force the issue.

Whatever your axe to grind is, get your arguments straight. I agree that the dev pathways are not clean but I do not think there is evidence to show the first grade are a shambles.

That’s completely fair. Maybe I’ll double back in saying it’s in “shambles” but I do still think that the whole Galvin situation occurred in the first place as a result of yes poor management from BOTH sides however. Tigers should’ve stopped pressuring Galvin to make a decision. Moses should’ve just ignored and not said anything to the tigers. Come November, Lachy would’ve been in the wrong for giving them no “heads up”I guess. To me, It’s just another situation where the player is caught in the middle and the club and his agent regardless of his footy. That’s the main point I refer to when talking about the club as a whole and it being in “shambles”. Probably should’ve used a different word but nevertheless It should really just be about good footy. It has become way to political and as my point being, the dev pathways are a significant highlight of this issue of politics and inability to just focus on development as a team and for the individual player. It should just be based on GOOD footy and nothing else.

Fair call mate. The dev pathways have been a headscratcher. It'd be great to know what the framework is for those and what they're trying to achieve.

I certainly have no angle on development players or pathways. However, Galvin’s decision was already made. He was leaving.. The actions of the club forced him to verbalize it so they could move forward with recruitment and retention decisions for the top 30. The fact he is back in 1st grade suggests it is about the footy and not politics.
