Big game for Tim Moltzen. A career defining game!

If he doesn't perform and return the ball like all fullbacks do as well catch bombs, then I think he needs to be dropped…
Mate time to put your body on the line!

He hasn't been under performing enough to be dropped. He isn't up there with the top fullbacks of the game but he also isn't the worst either.
If anyone caught the knights game or the storm game last night you would have seen Boyd's costly drop ball on the try line and Melbourne's winger (what's his name?) drop the ball in the in-goal as well.

It happens to the best of us, and It's good to see Timmy improving in this area each week. It's inevitable Teddy will end up in fullback by the end of the season which that leaves Tim, well i'm unsure.

Point is - Moltz is doing well there and while we have injuries we can't afford to drop him/move him around.

If it he isn't the worst, is that good enough? Are we striving for mediocrity?

I'd like to think we were aiming higher than that.

No way. Moltzen is most improved since Potter has come here and there is no way he should be dropped. He dropped the ball once this year off a bomb. Darius Boyd dropped a bomb in his own in goal then Manu dived on it for a try. We must keep

1\. Moltzen
2\. Koroibete
3\. Simona- whilst Nofolauma gets more time in NYC
4\. Ayshford
5\. Tedesco

Naiyavaro will be talent gone to waste as we already have our backline full so play him at prop. He is one of the biggest in the game, what is the loss if a prop can run down a winger these days?

Saving one line break this season He has made virtually zero metres

In saying all of this about exactly how garbage I think he is I hope he proves me wrong every single week and this is no exception

No no no no no…Moltzen is NOT a better fullback than Tedesco and is averaging about 50 metres in atack per game. Not good enough sorry when you're trying to put your team on the front foot from kick returns. The sooner Tedesco is shifted to fullback permanently, the better our attack will be. Moltzen only really supported one player through the ruck in attack, and that player is on the sidelines for the next month. I'd rather see Moltzen used as a running 6 than at fullback.

Mr T while big enough to play prop, I think is better left on the wing where he has more chance of being put into 1 on 1 situations with players where his size and strength can be used to better effect. He's regularly crossing the tryline in State Cup on the wing because he's too hard to handle out wide. Persist with him there and work on his handling skills. He is our next Tuiaki if developed right.

So what you are trying to say is this should be our fully fit 1-7

1\. Tedesco
2\. Koroibete
3\. Simona- Nofo soon
4\. Ayshford
5\. Naiyavaro
6\. Moltzen
7\. Marshall

Not bad. I am impressed :stuck_out_tongue:

Sorry BM96, but Big T aint ready for 1st grade yet. I was pretty psyched about him preseason but he has too many handling errors even in NSW cup to be picked in FG yet. Maybe next year, but when he does come into the NRL he WILL dominate! just gotta eliminate those stupid errors first

Moltzens "doing well" is not good enough unfortunately.
We've been waiting for a number of years now for him to move to the next level and it hasn't happened, nor can I see any clear signals that he is in the verge of something special.
I hope that I'm wrong, but all facts and evidence to date says otherwise.
The tigers (players, management and coaching staff) need to change this kind of attitude (that players are ok, they're doing well, in transition or we are building something special)….fair dinkum, are "us" supporters ok with this? Not me, so timmy get your shorts dirty a little pls and toughen up mate...
move up or move on as far as i am concerned...

Bottom line is that I'm sick of hearing %#^€><
about his supposed potential and that he's improving. So Timmy, "turn up, toughen up & get your shorts dirty" sweety…time is up!!!

He has played the best he ever has at fullback this year under potter. The problem being it still makes him the worst permanent fullback In the NRL. He is also worse then Tedsesco.

My backli e at full strength would have tedesco at fb , reddy on one wing and Koroibete on the other .

Not a first grader ,time to give tedesco his chance, otherwise Potters career here will be a short one .

Totally agree (re potter)…I'd also include Royce Simmons as well

In some ways i think Moltzen has regressed.

I've watched Bonstonkets clip of him made a while ago just recently and he seems to be almost a shadow of this spritely young bloke: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cJi3yvg4QH0

I really don't understand all the criticism he cops, he definitely doesn't deserve it. So he doesn't charge into the line like k hunt big deal! If he did he'd probably spend more time injured than on the field. I don't see how punishing yourself for no reason constitutes being a good fullback. He's going OK he's our most dangerous attacking player IMO. He has speed acceleration and footwork better than any other player, I do agree he needs to get his hands on the ball more but that's not all his fault.

Big deal???

Yeh, its a big deal. Very big

Him fart arsing around looking for a winger to do his dirty work on kick returns costs us valuable metres and getting our set of six off to a good start

If hes too brittle to hit the line hard he can go play oztag

It is when on every kick return he passes to the wingers.

He can play good at fullback, in the 2012 run to the finals he was excellent IIRC. It's when he's constantly passing on kick returns and not putting his body on the line that gets people annoyed. At times it looks like he is scared to be tackled.
