You mean his opportunity to play at fullback which is why the Dragons are supposedly buying him - he could do that here if he was any good at it
*This post is directed to the club, so nothing personal about forum members here*
Regardless of position, he wasn't getting a start. No player wants to be sidelined week in week out.
West Tigers didn't back his ability, otherwise they would have given him a permanent starting role, so i dont blame him for leaving.
To add..
The club should learn from this & give our other youngsters coming through the grades a chance to shine.
Hopoate played his 1st origin game a few weeks back & yet sheens & maybe a few forum members think our youngsters aren't ready & that they need to develop more. So they are just given 10-15min spells for a game or 2.. A 'taste' of first grade.
If i was Jacob Miller, i would be scratching my head asking mymself what i did wrong not to get the chance to start @ HF. With the poor form of Lui & Moltzen lacking in confidence in finding his feet in a stable position, what else does Jacob need to do to get a chance? Grow another 10cm? Put on 10KG? That must make him a better player & sharpen his decision making skills right?
I'd be surprised if Ben Barba puts on another 5kg by the time he retires, yet he's been given the permanent FB role & has been scoring tries left right & centre.. He wouldnt be any bigger or stronger then our talented youth.. Forget any weaknesses in our youngsters, look at there strengths & work on weaknesses as they go along.
it would be very unlikely to find a ready made player by the time he due out of the under 20's comp.
Like the saying goes, "Birds of a feather flock together".. You want talent? Then you must put him amongst the talent. You can shine as much as you want in the younger grades, but the real development happens in first grade, we have given our young forwards a go, its now time to give some back line players a go.
They are running hot in the younger grades, so please West Tigers, give them a go while there confidence is sky high.
