Tim Sheens determined to see out his contract with Wests Tig

WESTS Tigers coach Tim Sheens admits there are factions at the club pushing for his sacking, but he is committed to seeing out the last two years of his contract.

In his first extensive interview since calls for his head, Sheens hosed down talk of a move to the Warriors.

"All I've ever heard is Craig Bellamy and I were the sort of coach they were looking at, but we're both on contract," Sheens said. "I've not spoken to the Warriors about it and I've certainly not made an appointment with them.

"I know there are factions here at the Tigers that would be happy to see me go.

"They're not necessarily close to the club, but they are factions on the fringe. Look, you can never satisfy everyone. The main areas for concern are your players and the club management.

"From my perspective, I've had no issues with either, or certainly none that anyone's telling me about anyway.

"It's like players going to different clubs, coaches get linked the same."

When the Tigers bombed out of finals contention with back-to-back losses to the Roosters and Storm, the blowtorch was immediately applied to Sheens.

The Sunday Telegraph understands senior players met with chairman David Trodden to discuss where the season went wrong.

Sheens and his support staff featured heavily in the conversations, but Trodden and chief executive Stephen Humphreys have since assured the coach that his contract is safe.

"I don't like leaving a job undone. I know we've won one premiership here, but I'd certainly like to have a crack at another one and we've got a really talented group of kids coming through," Sheens said.

"It's a big story to turn around and just say, 'well, now I'm going to walk out on that'."

Great…. Were stuck with this senile twit again. I've never been so disillusioned with my team in 30 years.

Off course he wants to stay he is getting money for false pretenses.Undoubtedly there are "factions" trying to remove him as he states because he is destroying the club with his blindness and ego.

The longer you stay Tim the manner of your leaving will become bloodier, leave now and your reputation will not be badly damaged wait for 2 years and your name be a joke as you will have made the semis 3 times from the last 17 years.

Politics… He is telling the club to pay him out, nothing short of a payout and he will go.

Forget the last 10 years, he can only be judged on his current contract and the negociations which lead the club to re-sign him. Like it or not, with 2 Finals in the last 3 years, Sheens is holding Aces and those that want him gone are holding 2's!!!

Unfortunately Watto is right. Sheens is in prime position at the moment, the move is on him and if he's adamant about staying, well.. Here's to 2 more years… :bash

With the squad he had, 2 finals in 3 should be viewed as a failure. It's not his fault if his contract was weak in it's goals or targets. That's Humphreys fault.

Your presuming Humpty 'wanted' to re-sign him… Maybe Humpty was happy to let him go to Penrith, but was 'made' to sign Sheens at all costs (upgraded; reduced KPI's etc) by important factions at the Club?!

Surely 10 2's beats 3 aces?
(also implies a very dodgy deck…)

The one joker that does win him the game is that we apparently can;t afford to pay out his current contract and, as tiga4eva says, there's no performance clauses built into it. Which is due purely to rubbish negotiation from the club's side when the supposed panthers interest drove up his price. We got conned blind on that one. The last couple of years don;t really come into it I don;t think.

Humpdys pathetic ''support'' of Sheens' way of ''keeping things fresh'' during off season by moving the rowing machines around could support wattys view….with friends like that...............

The article did state that Sheens has the full support of management ..so there could be some hope. Sheens says there is a fringe element that want him gone REALLY scope! Not a fringe element just the fan base which you have lost ! Good luck in 2013.

This article that quotes Tim Sheens should dispell any rumours that Sheens will NOT be at the club in 2013\. Sheens would not allow to be quoted if it weren't true!!.Face it folks…we have at least 1 more year of Sheens!

Yep, I was certain before hand, this only confirms it for me.
Time to accept and try to move forward.

Yeah it seems that he wont go and we have to live with that.

So now we have to work out how on earth we can avoid the spoon next year.

I've got bad news for you , he will probably be here until the end of 2014

He will well and truly have the club up and running by then …...

Running towards the exits that is and it won't be a drill ladies and gentlemen

Why did they not let him go to penriff last year when the opportunity was there for a fresh voice for the players??
