Tim Sheens is proceeding with legal action

@LaT said:
Why is Sheens contract more valid than the players he told to go mid-contract over the years? Not that I think Sheens should give up and forget the money. But it does sound a bit hypocritical to expect everyone to respect and value his contract but players just to pack up and go whenever he felt they were no longer needed.

And if a coach has that power over players, to send them on mid contract when they are surplus, surely the board has that power over the coach?

Again, I'm not saying Sheens doesn't deserve to fight for the money.

Its not but those players got contracts with new clubs meaning they didnt suffer any loss. In any event, in those cases the releases were, at the end of that day, mutual.

Message for Mayer …. Just pay Tim what you owe him ffs.
You haven't a leg to stand on .... By contesting it not only will you end up paying him what is owed but probably his legal bill as well. It's your board of directors fault that caused this mess in the first place.

You obviously know more than lawyers.

What's the clubs defense ? We didn't mean to sign him in the first place ? We didn't know we'd miss the semis ? We didn't know he'd let Fifita go ? Surely the right thing to do would be to settle out of court.

That he has failed to mitigate his loss. Whether the Tigers are in breach of the contract, which is highly likely for all the reasons you set out, is only one issue. Before you go about declaring the prospects of success, I suggest you educate yourself on the legal issues involved in a case like this.

I agree a settlement would be good. But it takes two to tango.

If Tim wins and the club loses …. Mayer should be sacked on the spot.
This club just doesn't have the money to go splashing around on lawyers.
The board has done more than enough damage to this club already .... If it wasn't for Dave Smith throwing us a lifeline .... The board and management would have sent us out the back door ..... That's a fact that maybe you should get your head around.

Mayer should be sacked for something that happened long before he was CEO eh?

LOL

LMFAO

Then I daresay Mayer would be in Sheens position…and potentially taking us to court.

I don't know what you're laughing at ….. Maybe the incompetence of board and management ..... Mayer should be sacked if he loses the club more money than it otherwise would .... Try reading what I wrote next time.

You think this is Mayers call?? He is employed by the board and does what the board tells him to.

Like Ink said, Mayer would be under contract too and he can then also sue for breech of contract or unfair dismissal.

Who else should we sack while we are at it, the ball boy?

Who says its unfair ? He is our CEO …. a very well paid employee of the club.
So if we lose we should all just accept it, pay Tim his money, Tims solicitors their money, the clubs solicitors their money .... shrug our shoulders and say oh well ... She'll be right.
No wonder there's no money in the joint for a decent new signing.

Get over yourself mate. The club has obtained legal advice, listened to that advice and acted on it.

Stop trying to be an expert on things you know nothing about.

Guess what …. Tim's done exactly the same thing !

And your point is what? That the outcome of legal proceedings is uncertain? But before you were saying the club was going to get smashed. Now you are saying there are two points of view depending upon the factual matters ultimately accepted by the courts. Just like all legal proceedings.

I can assure you the clubs defence is not weak. I said 12 months ago that I was surprised, given Sheens refused to accept an alternative role for which he would have been paid, the club continued to pay him as long as they did. I would have cut him off immediately and told him to go get a new job.

What a total failure this all is.

Sheens is the coach that bought the only premiership to the club and what a special one that was and he introduced that X factor that gave us our playing identity and cult following. I guess he is a life member too and under his guide we never finished below mid table. Then he releases Gibbs,Fifita etc and its all down hill and now we are talked about as cellar dwellers.

And with our money problems now this.

WT should sue Humphries for re-signing him at start of 2012 then dumping him at start of 2013
