Tim Sheens

I want a young coach who's worked under someone like Bennett, Bellamy, Stuart, Henry etc, ie a coach who's had some sort of consistent success in recent times. I also wouldn't dismiss someone like Ivan Cleary.

IMO he made the BIGGEST blunder of the year by bringing stacy jones back as starting half, ever since then the warriors have gone crap, but people wont lay blame on jones even though they were performing better with fein at half back

If we aren't firmly entrenched in the top 8 at the halfway point next season, I say we tell him to move on. We have barely looked like being a top 4 side in the past 4 years. If we don't look like doing so next year, it's just not good enough. Look at a younger coach I think, it's worth the punt, look what Moore has done in his first season.

when ever we win a game we look like atop 4 side and when ever we lose we look like a bottom 4 side, we have to find that middle ground where if we are playing garbage we manage to scrape a win in, its either diamonds or rocks with us and thats been the major problem over the last 3 years

To be honest worse teams have made the finals then us since 05 and IMO we are the best team that misses out each year but in the end its not good enough, and the story tells one finals appearence in 10 years and its not acceptable

I agree Jones has been poor this year. Then again Sheens played Morris at 7 for 2 and a half seasons.

Under Cleary the Warriors made the finals in 2007 & 2008, and would have played finals in 2006 if they weren't deducted 4 points for salary cap breaches. This year they will miss the 8 but it can't be easy when one of your best young players dies in preseason.

He's one of the better young coaches in the game in my opinion.

i agree, and i think he may have felt the pressure, and thats why he got jones back, but as far as the young coaches go he is atop the list, but he will learn from that mistake unlike sheens lol

I figure Sheens will not be short of a offer come this time next year even if our mob are near the bottom of the comp. A team like souths are likley to make a move just like the chooks did with Smith. Given that I still would not rush out and sign him to a extention, theirs always another coach waiting for a chance. Lets just sit back and consider our postion this time next year.

I think Humphries should start looking now and get some sort of feedback on who'd be interested. If we don't get anyone decent then I'd sign Sheens asap. I'll guarantee that if we lose him we'll end up with a nuffy.

hagan is a good coach, geez some people on here are idiots.

out of the ones listed id go with
Murray
hagan
folkes.

But if we were looking to the future a coach like, stephan kearney, paul green or ian millward would be acceptable, i mean they dont have alot to live up to, just dont get the spoon and dont make the finals and you will keep your job

Michael Hagan
2001–2006 Newcastle Knights… 154.. 83 ..1 ..70 ..54
2007–2008 Parramatta Eels .......51 ..26 ..0 ..25 ..51
.--------------...........Total .......205 .109 .1 ..95 ..53

Hagen's record is no better than Sheens....won 1 comp with the Knights which Btw his win record falls to 22% without Andrew Johns....Imagine him in charge if Farah and Marshall go down as Sheens has had to deal with over the years....

Oh no reason to call someone an idiot just cause their opinion of a Coach is different to yours.......

As long as the team is winning, everyone's position is safe. I think the club are going to make a tough call if it needs to be made, but won't tamper with a winning combo.

Let's finish this season, see where we are and go from there. If we are languishing down the bottom of the table mid-season, I think the club will act. Let's be honest, we will have one of the best top 25's in the comp next year, bar a few forwards maybe…(let's see if we recruit anyone) there will be no excuses.

PS. If Taumata stays out of trouble, I dare say we'll have the NZ halves combo...

Unproven coaches can be a worry….look at Henjack... I know they have had some injury problems lately but with their cattle and the way they started the year , they should be firmly entrenched in the 8.

Id like to see what Sheens could do with that roster........

If the nutty professor stops experimenting with players out of position and starts giving the youngsters a go, which he has done in the last few weeks, I'd be happy to see Sheens stay on.

Although Humphries has only been here a short while, I get the feeling that he will be keeping Sheens & Co honest in times to come

Seems to me the only people who want Sheens sacked want him replaced by some hack who hasn't coached first grade yet, but happened to play for Wests 30 odd years ago.

Some people are riding Sheens for not playing Gallant earlier, but when he got a chance earlier in the year against the Dogs, Gallant directly cost us the game in any number of ways.

I would like to see him replaced at the end of his contract by Stephen Kearney, guess I'm on my own (Oh, what 3 wins can do :laughing🙂

As for Gallant costing the Tigers the game, that's a tad harsh don't you think? Considering the other nuffies got 1 million opportunities I think Gallant deserved more than 1.

Benji Marshall being "Rested with 'FLU' and hamstring issues" for the Anzac test contributed just as much to that loss than anything else….

Oh ok, so you can defend Gallant by saying Marshall wasn't there, but it's no excuse for the coach?

Where did I defend Gallant…..Where did I slam Sheens....Marshall for 20 mins in that game would have been handy don't you think.....the decision was made to give him a week off to ensure the New Zealand captain would be fully fit for the test...

I'd say that contributed to the loss yes....
