Tim Simona - Deregistered

what happen to innocent until proven guilty, or is try by WT forum?
If true he deserves life ban, but he was not found guilty yet :bash

Look. It's obvious it's true. Every media outlet is reporting it.
It wouldn't get to daylight if there was any doubt from within the NRL. They would cover it up if they could yet Greenberg is out in force.

It's unfortunate yet unforgivable.

This gives good insight into the case.

See ya later Tim… clearly you forgot why you played the game in the first place.... hope you get the help you need. ...

I still can't fathom this… You don't bet against your team mates or yourself. It goes against every principal of why you play team sports and what you get out of it.

Why why why???

Does this mean that 1st try scorer is no longer an option at the TAB? Spewing if that is the case.

It is the exotic bets that are banned .. eg. First scoring play a Penalty Goal…Dropped ball on the 3rd Tackle in a set of 6 ...40/20's kicked...Head to Head player bets..Less than 10 hit ups for player X in a game..etc

'Normal betting' remains...

With All the crap footy players get away with year after year don't you think a life ban is way over the top in comparison.. I think it's all about the TAB money for Greenberg he does not want his sponsorship darling reputation to be damaged. What's the difference between a drug user receiving counselling and allowed back in the game and a gamble being caught and being told to never return.

Big difference between a recreational drug user and someone who bets against his own team and tries his best to make that bet a winner for personal gain. But your sentence about the TAB sponsorship is the most spot-on fact regarding this whole affair. Do not interfere with the NRL's money making avenues, that is the message they have made clear.

There is no doubt that what Tim Simona has done is unacceptable however I still don't get what the intent or motive was.
He may have been in a position to allow his opposing player to score the first try but it certainly is no guarantee that he alone could orchestrate that. The nature of the bets reportedly $10 would suggest he was not intending to make loads of money.
The perception of what he has done is horrendous but the intention is idiotic and makes little sense and may cost him career Dumb dumb dumb.

It's strange but some people get addicted to the thrill of the crime. The thrill of having some power to control the outcome.
For some people it isn't about the money.
Maybe he just wanted to impress some people.

“There’s been a screenshot of his phone placing the bets. The NRL’s got the screenshot.”

What's this mean?

Yea i was surprised at that as well - i fail to see what a screenshot of a phone proves - can they prove its his phone? Do they have a picture of him inputting the said screenshot? How the hell do you even get a screenshot of a bet being placed on a phone?? Maybe some tech head on here can explain it.

Instant messenger such as Line, whatsapp. The informant communicating with Simona.
Screenshot the chat is easy.

Like others I think a life ban is way over the top when you look how the NRL has handled other things that have happened. You could hardly call it match fixing and he was not consorting with Mr Big. Agreed it is not a good look and yes it could be argued he could have had a influence on a games result, but I see it more like your average guy having a bet on the NRL like hundreds and hundreds do every week. Okay it is illegal for him and he deserves at least a 12 month ban and I guess he would be black listed by most clubs any way but leat give him a chance to earn a squid down the track. Although I think the NRL will hang him out to dry to try and send a very strong message out there.

Even if he got a 12month ban … no club would touch him nor would any player trust him to play alongside him.... any missed tackle would be questioned....

So if Simona gets a life ban I gather that means the Tigers donot have a salary cap problem for this year as his contract will not be paid nor will that amount be counted in their $7M.

I hope that the NRL doesn't make a decision on Friday , could take our players concentration off their game that night

If i was a player and some skid mark of a teammate was backing against us, a lifetime ban announcement would give me a huge lift.

I'll answer my own question….extract from an article

"The Tigers have been trying to offload a player to comply with the salary cap by round one, but they won't need to move on a player if Simona is found guilty."

Before i go tropical I would like to know the exact nature of these bets…...not just media hearsay.

If he has EVER bet against us.....then throw the book at him.

If not.....surely a lifetime ban is over the top.....all in all its very sad.
