A player who has so much potential.
If proven to be true, and needs to beyond any reasonable doubt, what a waste of a career.
Does this mean he will be warned off attending any games as a spectator ?

I'm guessing he shared screenshots of his bets to friends.
Probably conspirators.

How can they tell the screenshot is from HIS phone?

Probably because whoever he has sent it to has shown the NRL the screenshot within the conversation between him and Simona.

Oh yeh
The scorned ex

I wonder if it's just a coincidence that this is what was on Triple M this morning:

**REVEALED: Who Dobbed In Tim Simona**
Tim Simona will reportedly be banned from the NRL for life for breaching gambling rules.

The Wests Tigers centre is being investigated by the league and NSW police over reported allegations he was involved in placing bets on opposition players.

The 25-year-old, who's stood down from playing and training, was issued with a notice to cancel his registration by the NRL last month.

Channel Nine rugby league reporter Danny Weidler revealed how Tim Simona was caught.

“I believe it relates to a female that he knows and information that she passed on,” said Weidler on the Triple M Grill Team.

Wonder if Weidler was trolling through here, saw your guess and just ran with it?

It never sits well with me when reporter and Danny Weidler are mentioned in the same sentence….

So if Simona gets a life ban I gather that means the Tigers donot have a salary cap problem for this year as his contract will not be paid nor will that amount be counted in their $7M.

That would seem logical but we are talking about greenberg and the NRL and they make up things as they go.
As far as a life time ban is concerned i dont have any real issues with it as long as there is hard evidence and not just hear say. However Tim is not a high profile player and an easy target i truly wonder if the same result would apply to everyone i highly doubt it.
Yes i am a very cynical old bugger.

If the same amount of hard evidence gets presented as seems to be the case for Simona I am sure it would.

BESIEGED Wests Tigers star Tim Simona is receiving continued support from teammates who remain concerned for his “wellbeing” — especially if banned from the game forever.

Several Tigers players, including fellow flyer Kevin Naiqama, are keeping close tabs on the 25-year-old who effectively stands accused of betting against them.

It is understood the Samoan international, who will receive a life ban if found guilty, has until Friday to lodge his defence with the NRL Integrity Unit.

Yet speaking after training on Tuesday, Naiqama stressed he would continue to support Simona no matter the investigation outcome: “My only concern right now is his wellbeing”.

In 2013, young Tigers forward Mosese Fotuaika tragically took his own life after being injured at training while, as recently as last November, the joint-venture club was forced to defend its culture against claims of bullying and intimidation.

“This situation is a really hard one because Tim’s a good mate,’’ Naiqama said. “So for me, the most important thing is his wellbeing.

“At the end of the day, there’s a human being involved in all of this. And what people are saying and writing, it does affect him.

“The last thing you want is someone doing something to themselves. So as a friend, all I can do is be there and support him.

“Even if he is found to have done something wrong, I will always be there for him.”

Asked how Simona was doing, Naiqama continued: “He’s doing OK.

“I’ve sent him some messages and he appreciates that. He’s my friend and right now he just needs support.”

With Simona suspended, Tigers coach Jason Taylor is being tipped to call on rising teenager Moses Suli — who recently inked a three-year deal with the club worth a reported $1.3 million.

The 18-year-old tips the scales at 106kg and has made a huge impression on his teammates over summer.

While Jordan Rankin and David Nofoaluma were named as the Tigers’ starting wingers, Suli could still be called in given he was named in jersey No. 21.

“He’s really powerful,” Tigers forward Elijah Taylor said. “Strong, fast, great feet and really humble.

“I’ve only seen him play a couple of trials but he went really well.

“I think like everyone else, I’m really excited to see how he goes. I’m not sure when he will be used but, if he comes in, he definitely won’t let anyone down.”

Naiqama agreed, adding: “I didn’t know anything about him before pre-season.

“But he’s definitely a big kid, especially considering his age. Real strong, too.

“I don’t want to put too much pressure on him but he’s definitely looked comfortable during the pre-season. I’m excited to see how he goes if he gets a crack.”

The NRL first launched its investigation into Simona late last year, when a social media post accused the Tigers winger of betting on rugby league matches. NRL CEO Todd Greenberg has repeatedly stated any player found guilty of betting on matches would be banned for life.

To be fair Ryan Tandy wasn't a top line player either and he went to the wall for his efforts.

Wasn't Keiran Foran lucky?

Yes, very lucky indeed. The whole mess of things that he was involved with last season have all just disappeared into thin air.
The good old NRL, very shonky organisation that is for sure.
Simona's biggest problem is he isn't a high enough profile player so therefore he is extremely expendable. Top players get just a slap on the wrist for their indiscretions.

No. Tims biggest problem was the pics put up on social media…. once they got out he was done, and Im suprised the story is a focussed as it is at present.

Is the evidence against Foran as black and white as it looks to be against Simona?

"As it looks to be against Simona"? Nobody knows what evidence they have against Simona as yet. It is just assumption at this time.
Also it wouldnt surprise that the NRL may only investigate certain matters as much as they really want to, they nay be afraid of what they would find. There seemed to be a massive amount of smoke around Foran, yet apparently no fire whatsoever. That in itself is very unusual in RL circles these days.

You can get an idea of what Simona was doing when you see the bets that have been banned in the wake of this.
Easy to manipulate with some bad defensive reads.

Not just Simona in the banned bets…. they pertain to a few different offenders over time.

Well he wasn't getting any ball so it's a pretty smart bet. Pretty dumb leaving a trail though.
