Time for Potters signature

I agree with Larry - There is no point in waiting unless we want a massive offer from another club to swamp us.

Irvine and Trexx are just negatives personified - I think if we won the comp you two would still want to wait for the following year.

We need to show Mick that we want him, that we have confidence in what he is doing and the way he is going the price is only going to go up. Can see another Teddy fiasco coming up.

He is coaching for peanuts, he deserves more. Money is probably not important but if someone comes along with an offer of heaps and we are not showing any loyalty - maybe he might have second thoughts.

Does not help the players who are not signed to make up their mind - I would want to know who the coach is for next year before I signed if I was them.

The point is - why wait….do we want him to win the comp on his own before we say "We want you Mick". :brick:

Negative??? You kidding me?

I'm the last to be negative towards the tigers.

Parts you don't understand is the relationship he has with players. As much as we may be winning a few games does not mean anything. You can't base and rush signing a coach to a contact till he has proven his worth and gets results. We havnt made finals yet, and we sure as hell havnt been consistent enough to warrant it.
I bet if we loose a few games in a row people will call for his head.

He has done a wonderful job building culture. Culture is the first of two major components in my opinion. There have been lots of great posts about the turn around in our culture so I don't need to repeat them. We all see it and hear it in player interviews.

Second is tactics / game strategies. We have seen some good signs, but nothing amazing. Taking us through the middle of Souths was good. Round 2 through 6 use of bench was great. Last night seeing Patto run at Carney all night. All good.

We need to see signs of the more complex strategies that we see from the Melbourne's and Souths of the comp. Eg consistently structured sets building specifically to last tackle options. Game plans shifting mid game. Sequences of sets that set up expectations for last play options, that infact hide the true intent to run the ball.

To be fair to Potter the team isn't there yet. He needs to keep building culture and skills. I would like to see his contract extended 1 year. At worst we end with an excellent culture and stronger skills.

Potter deserves a massive wrap. He came to the club with it in ruins, unhappy players, poor playing roster, a board that was fighting each other, being payed peanuts and the list goes on.

Potter basically placed the rest of his coaching career on the chopping block by coming here, and the chances of failure at the time were fairly high as explained above.

He showed last year that he can make the tough decisions, eg by benching Marshall, developing and blooding all the youth. Also to carry on at a time where everyone was calling for him to be sacked, shows he has what it takes.

Fast forward to this year, we are 6 from 10\. IMO a very respectable position. Especially seeing the amount of serious injuries to major players. He seems to have created and developed a positive winning culture within the club.

He has recruited smartly in key positions, creating depth and competition for positions within the top 17\. And the most pleasing thing is that Potter seems to have a plan for the club, which he is implementing.

Potter should be showed confidence by the club with another contract. This also enables players to have confidence with knowing he will be there for the next few years.

Yes exactly, and he has turned everything around for the better in less than a season and a half! Many coaches would've taken a lot longer to achieve what Potter has already achieved with the mess we had here and others would never achieve it at all. I think we should all be thankful everyday that he, along with Kidwell and Payten, are now at the helm of our team because we are definitely heading in the right direction. Have some patience, people and recognise the improvements - he's only been here for one and a half seasons!

So we dont understand this

You do.

Please explain what you mean, you purport to know things others dont and then dont expand on it..as per usual full of crap

T-Rexx - what relationship with the players? - Let us in on the secret please!!!

I'm sure if we lose a few games people on here will be calling for his head.

You will be one and I am sure the people who want to wait to sign him will be the others.

People talk about Payton and Kidwell - they are his staff members - he has the final say which he lives and dies by. Give them the wraps when they are the head coach not when they are told what to do by the Head Coach.

As for loyalty - obviously dead with a lot of people. Offer him a few more peanuts - if he doesn't like it then let him go elsewhere. Love your style. Glad I don't work for you!

 this seems to be dragin on a bit hope we don't lose players and coach because of this? other clubs could get under our guard. same with Teddy if he wants too much let I'm go. Rowe is doing good.could do with more info on all subjects
