TIME IS ALMOST RIGHT FOR JAKE MULLANEY

Is the timing of this article just a coincidence or will Mullaney be named in FG today?

It does seem like Sheens wouldn't let an article like this be published without reason. Either that he will get a call up, or they want to let him know that he is in their plans so he doesn't go elsewhere.

Did anyone calling for Mullany see him playing in the trials? Frankly, I would love to see the bloke get a shot, but I would be apprehensive from what I saw in the 1st grade trial. Given the lack luster defense in NYC, scoring points there may not translate to being able to score points in the NRL.

The fact that he is a kicker though makes me hope that sheens gives him a shot…

My feeling is that this is the more likely at this stage. They have been putting out a few rticles for a while on Jake. One came out late last year when it was rumoured the Sharks had signed him.

Sheens would not throw him in the deep end, he would get game time off the bench and as i said before its better to blood players into a form team rather than one that is playing like a busted bus. Our current squad of about 20 got us into a hole its up to them to dig us out. This slump we are in is just as bad as all the other slumps we have been in over the past five years

I would love to see jake get a shot but dont think sheens will put him straight in. as others have said more likely on the bench and given some time late in a game. but when u look at a player like duggan from canberra who is playing great footy ( and they are around the same age i believe ) then if your good enough u are old enough.

I agree ,,,but Ayshford 21 Lawrence 21 Fifita 21 aren't going too badly are they….

True ….. but Mullaney wouldn't be 21 yet would he ?

The other main difference those 3 have over Mullaney is size and strength and they can all tackle.

Mullaney is a player thats just hungry for the ball at all times, supporting props, looking for line breaks. It's a slater/hayne way of playing fullback, alot more traditional for mine as opposed to the playmaking role that say hodgeson was used for.

It's also something ryan doesn't do.

The back page of yesterday's Inner West Courier shows Mullaney training with the FG squad
