Danny Weidler just reported on channel 9 that Roosters coach Brian Smith has told Todd Carney he is not wanted for next season and beyond. Apparently he has been told to look towards Europe but several NRL clubs including Cronulla will look to sign Carney if his contract at the Roosters is terminated.

Carney, Myles and Nuuasala have all been directed to stay away from Roosters training for the rest of the season too apparently.

I kind of feel sorry for Smith with the Carney mess, he did a good job with the kid last year leaving many of us to believe he had actually turned his life around, but then again Smith did take the punt on him. What I've heard is he got back on the drink in the Australian camp during the 4 nations, and lost it from there (he went hard on the sauce all off season).

That said, I'm amazed anyone wants him. He lost a grand final (a big motivator for players), won a Dally M, played for Australia and was earmarked to play origin this year, yet he can't get himself together. How much motivation will he need. I expect him to probably go to Catalans in the ESL (since he probably won't get into England) and play out his career in a low pressure environment, because he clearly can't hack it in the NRL.

Also not surprised to see Myles get told to stay away, he's clearly counting down the minutes till mad monday. Franky Paul I guess had to cop the same thing, but I can't see the chooks chopping him for this, hopefully he gets his act together (like many players do after their first stuff up).

What I don't understand is if he really really wanted a beer or 2 then why wouldn't he drink it in the privacy of his own home and not tell anyone about it?

Wow, I really thought he was going to get another chance (again)

I am a little surprised however that Brian Smith is the one telling Carney, I would have thought Politis and Noyce would pull the shots.
