Toddy Payten

I don't wanna disrespect Todd, but i honestly feel his struggling big time, and offering nothing to the team at the moment. Slow, no big runs in the forwards and when he comes on the team look disjointed. Does anyone else agree?

I'm guessing fifita has done something to be out of the team for so long, but come finals he will offer way more then what Todd is ATM.

as much as i love the guy,he shouldn't be there. But as long as he's fit,he'll be there every week

I love having payten in the team.. Despite th fact he does appear broken ATM.. The reason we create much of the space out wide is because of payten keeping th attack direct, he goes to the line and has a very good pass on him out the back to Benji.
Tigers use a lot of tip on plays in the forwards which gets opposition defense condensing in the middle, but when payten passes out the back (using the lead forward as an option runner), it creates space for that left edge.
Love having toddy in the team and think our attack is more sharp as a result

He is not really doing much on the field, and it is getting annoying - however I can't say he is costing us at the moment.

i agree he isnt what he was , but i do like having him in the 17 and think his experience in the semis will be great , Fifita is no where near an unfit Payten did any of u seee fifita in state cup against Norths ? he made junior moors look like a star .

I have to say I did not even notice him against Penrith - was not until I watched a replay and saw his name on the screen when he came on as an interchange that I knew he came onto the field.

i would rather bike pants on the interchange instead of a back. he wouldnt need to play too many minutes if we had 4 forwards on the interchange

i forgot this guy even existed until i saw this topic. what does he actually do during games? i don't even know what position he is. he's been virtually non-existent lately.

We can "afford" to carry him till the semis…so we should...I reckon he will play out of his skin come the semis!

He could become a liability in the semis . Maybe play him for BRET for a coouple of weeks and see how he goes If he starts to show his old form and skills we can bring him back up then
But Hybrid's right , to not get a touch all night isn't good
If we got 2 injuries in the forwards and we needed him to play some serious minutes we'd be stuffed I'd reckon

If Todd is injury free and all that is needed is some game time he will be invaluable for our finals campaign .Getting older takes longer to get match fitness will see his best around finals time .

As long as he is physically fit yes - he has a great footy brain and definitely adds to the team. Injury hasn't helped this year, but i do remember seeing something last year saying our winning percentages with Todd in the team were better than any other player!!

I would like to see him start so he gets so match fitness in his legs.

Brillant player and adds so much to our team with his experience and knowledge.

Our defence is better with Payten, Gibbs and Fulton in the team.

Let's hope we send Payten and Gibbs out with a premiership.

Father time has certainly caught up with Todd, he is not the player he was, I guess the million dollar question is the non football stuff he brings to the team (experience, cool head, effect on other players and all of that) enough to warrant his selection.
TBH Im not sure what is the the right thing to do with Todd, he is not producing but, I reckon he is still contributing in other ways…..tough call either way.

If Fifita or BMM starts playing the house down and demands selection on form, well im all for them coming in for Payten, if no one sticks there hand up, Payten to stay, i think....

That is about how I see it too,if Fifita,BMM or even Begavich are playing better, then maybe its time.
