Is it just me or is he just useless as a ref??? Too many incorrect and inconsistent with his calls. And not just with NSW but QLD as well. I mean how long is Thaiday allowed to lay all over the play the ball and Galloway for that matter?????? He is a disgrace as a first grade ref!!!

These guys are suppossed to let 2 opposing teams play the game of rugby league and ajudicate the game based on the rules of the game in a non-biased manner. "Interpretation" "Focus Points" are all key problems in todays game as it allows for "inconsistency" and is ruining the game of Rugby League.

Last nights game was no different to game 2… The Referee influenced the final result and the paying public should be asking for thier money back, as this is not we pay $120.00 a ticket to watch.

This has been happening since 2008, with the most natoriuos game being the World Cup Final. It was clear on that night the referee's were under instructions to "keep the teamS close as no-one wants to see Australia run away by 50 points." This has entered into the premiership race (ala Tuqiri kneeing incident) and clearly last night again, it was the whistle blowers who managed to keep NSW in the game at every possible moment.

Cameron Smith & Thaiday were all over the play the balls, as was Gallen, Ennis & Gidley... It was only when the referee had had enough, they 'chose' to police this ruling. UNACCEPTABLE!!!

:rant :rant :rant

What a confusing post.

I assume you thought, like anyone watching the game, Queensland deserved to win. Therefore, how has the referee influenced the result than what it otherwise should have been? Why would fans want their money back?

Alternatively, do you think NSW should have won and were dudded by the ref and NSW fans should get their money back?

So explain how the referees kept NSW in the game when Queensland went from a 6-0 lead to a 24-0 lead? What about when Queensland went from a 24-10 lead to a 34-10 lead?

qld played within the rules they were given, i dont think anyone is taking anything away from them… however the game isn't being adjudicated FAIRLY. the referees are there to control the game based on a set of rules, not decide which rules they are going to apply each week.

the referees are under instruction from their boss PRIOR to the match. this means that certain points of the game are highlighted to be penalised, or in qld's case last night, not penalised.

let me use the tigers as an example. when teams are ALLOWED to slow down the play the ball the tigers are no where near as good. when the interpretation changes and they allow quick play the balls with a open free flowing game the tigers are awesome...

the last 2 games we've lost, to no suprise, have been in games where the play the ball is really slow, and the refs have been ok with it... i have no problems if thats the rule ALL THE TIME, but it has to be the rule all year - not changing from week to week. a team like the tigers starts gaining momentum playing under 1 interpretation, then all of a sudden another is used for 2 games and it completely ruins our momentum - and it shouldn't. because the rules should be the same every week.

if game 3 was refereed the same way game 2 was, NSW probably would have won... the game would have been more open and free flowing... not waiting 20seconds for cameron smith to roll out of the play the ball or have 3 forwards lying all over the guy trying to get up. infringements that are penalties in every other game of the year.

because nsw are fit and more mobile. the faster the game he more likely we are to dominate them… toward the back end of the 1st half the leniencey around the play the ball had changed. add that with a bit of luck and we got to 12 points...

someone said to me today 'how does a team so dominated lose by only 10 points'. if anything, this highlights nsw are infact a better team in the modern game - because USUALLY the games are fast. its the thing gallop prides himself on when speaking about the quality of the nrl matches. the closeness of the compettition and the speed of the game.

its not sour grapes, there are just some major issues with the referreeing system.

1\. Margin Betting was the biggest area influenced from the games final result.

2\. They couldnt control the aspect of the game when Qld were so dominant, but the moment they could, they quickly awarded a try to NSW. Considering the ball hit the deck 4 times in that try scoring play, why didnt they go upstairs to check it? Simple… this was there chance to make it respectable.

3\. Take the Thaiday slap to Gidley's head... Archer was standing there allowing Gidley to stop Yow Yeh from racing up to take a quick tap, but never hesitated to blow his whistle when NSW were attempting to take a quick tap even though he was never set?

They Influenced Plenty!!!

This ^^ would be my biggest beef week to week with the referee's

May I suggest Micko, this is a DISEASE the NRL has been suffering, since Bill Harrigan has become the Referee's Supremo. As I have written elsewhere, If David Gallop does not address the refereeing problems quick smart, the game will start to go backwards from the emminent position it has currently reached. The TV ratings for last night's game were a record, but how long will this last?

Yes, I don't understand this like I didn't understand all the conspiracy theories on The X-Files. Can I swear? Reason being, this is complete and utter…...
