Cool list up at makingthenut.com of their opinion of the best 20 players from the magpies/tigers of the past 20 years. They're doing every team over the coming weeks, pretty good read!

Leeds at no. 2 is a joke (ahead of Brash - a NSW & Test stalwart at no. 6 - let alone Farah, Sironen, Elias & Hodgo)!

And Jack not on a list that includes Taylor & Langmack!

The writer needs a clue!

When did Garry Jack retire? Surprised he didn't make the cut!

Jack left in 93 & returned for one season in 95!

The writer is an imbecile!

This quote re: Kearney (ranked at 16 on the list) says it all:

"A great talent and **a good advertisement for rugby league**."

Yeah his career-ending spear on McCracken was a great advertisement! What a gibberer!

I think the writer is spot on. The only issue I have is that Prince should be higher in 5th or 6th.

Garry Jack should not be in the list. Jack's best years were in the 80's and you would have to admit, Balmain had some pretty awful teams from about 1990 onwards. Wests managed to make the finals in 1991, 92 and 96 so I have no complaints with seeing players such as Taylor, Langmack and Leeds in the list. Each of them participated in at least one finals series with Langmack playing in all 3.

Leeds was an excellent and solid fullback, just needed a couple of extra yards of pace.

Think of some of the Wests players that did not get in the list. Mescia, Lidden, Gillespie, Thomas, Britt, Hill (Wests and Wests Tigers) and of course, Doug Rawlings.

What about just Wests Tigers top 20?

1\. Benji Marshall

Excellent effort CB - but where are Lee Murphy (he'd make my top 3), Luke Milton, Clint Hill, Keith Eshman & Alf Duncan?

Red, there was so much talent there I couldn't have possibly fit them all in… Unfortunately, some had to miss out.

We were really spoilt for choice back then

I have to agree mate - but the blokes I mentioned would force their way into the squad as they were "special" players (in the same definition of the word as it is applied to the "Special" Olympics)!

No disrespect intended to our wonderful disabled athletes!

And JT deserves a spot? His best footy was at Norths - while Langmack's best was at the Bulldogs in the 80s (same for Thomas, Gillespie and later Britt after leaving the Magpies)! Hill's best was at Manly (along with Cement again)!

You're kidding yourself mate!

No I am not kidding and clearly you did not read my post. Wests made the semis 3 times in the 90's with Balmain only making the semis in 1990\. Balmain had a great team in the 1980's but had an awful team in the 1990's. Therefore, given this rating is done over the period 1990-2010, you would expect more players from Western Suburbs than Balmain (after Wests Tigers).

Langmack, Taylor and Leeds all played finals football for Wests in the 1990's. Taylor steered the team around as halfback into consecutive finals series. Balmain only played finals football in 1990 (with the remnants of their great teams of 88 & 89) and afterwards was an awful team. Elias and Sirro had their best years in the 80's.

You have a very warped view of the 90s. Read the post objectively and understand that Wests did make the semis three times in the 90's. On that basis, the players in that team have every right to be mentioned

Read it all & stronly disagree!

Sirro debuted in 85 & was a starter in the 90 & 94 Kangaroo tours GB - retiring in 98! Elias played (& captained) NSW from 90-94!

None of your picks made Origins or Tests in that period!

And what about Brash (6 to Leeds at 2)? Leeds never even made a City team!

**Wests slipped into the finals only to drop straight out mate!** Those individuals wouldn't make top grade nowadays!

Maybe in a top 50!

You have a biassed & ignorant view of reality Alf!

I would've copped Mescia or Skando by the way!
