Top 25 contracted playing squad / Elijah Taylor - Farah.

Not sure I buy the info regarding the reasons for moving on Robbie. He was on shaky ground last year too, before Elijah Taylor was even on the scene, therefore I don't know why Farah's plans for next season would have anything to do with ET. None of this has been confirmed of course - as far as we know he isn't being moved on at all, he's only been dropped to reserve grade for performance reasons (more so his compatibility with the team I would think). Another point regarding this quote: ".. Boards generally don't like hearing any comments that could be viewed as sexist / misogynistic - even if in jest." (Assuming this is referring to Farah) - If the club were so dodgy as to drop Robbie in the hope he would leave the club, surely the comments he apparently made would be grounds for dismissal?

I don't know.. I don't think any of us will ever really find out what has gone on with this situation..

Earlier in the year I posted the club's top 25 roster in an attempt to explain some of the more bizarre team selections. This squad was assembled by Jason Taylor prior to Mark O'Neill's arrival.
Well today I am sharing the updated list which reflects the departure of Buchanan & Drinkwater who were both in the original top 25 squad.
Effectively it is Sundays team inc 18th Man Chee Kam along with: Brooks; Farah; Ballin; Cherrington; Sirro; Hunt and Natahan Milone!!
Both Elijah Taylor & Nathan Milone were added to the top 25 squad with the departures of Buchanan & Drinkwater.
This helps explain the recent absences of JAC & Felise, as we have now exhausted 2nd tier cap. The club is hoping all 3 teams qualify for finals because then there is a rather convoluted exemption given which may allow us to play both in the NRL side in the semis.
For those of you that read my brief post regarding Elijah Taylor's management contacting Justin Pascoe on the same day Farah was dropped notifying him that they have received offers from both the Warriors & the Knights I can now confirm the Warriors have offered $450k x3; the Knights $500k x2 + 1 year club option. Pascoe will do everything in his power to retain ET, and I'm told matching the Warriors offer should be enough i.e. $450k x 3.
So in summary Farah was in fact dropped to force his hand in an attempt to 'find' $450k to sign ET. The club is very confident they will achieve this with a final decision on Farah's future to be known before the semis. I'd be a bald face liar if I claimed I know where Farah will end up but he definitely won't be here next year! Both St George & Souths are in the running, the Newcastle deal which involved Uate was never that appealing for the club or Robbie. But I repeat he won't be here next year, he has burnt some bridges with people of greater influence than Jason Taylor! All I can say is that in 2016 coaches are accountable to CEOs / Boards, and Boards generally don't like hearing any comments that could be viewed as sexist / misogynistic - even if in jest.
Jason Taylor continues to have rock solid support but Pascoe is a performance driven pragmatist and his own 3 year plan which the Board is about to sign off on calls for top 8 success for 3 consecutive years starting 2017\. This year a top 8 finish would guarantee Taylor would coach next year, as Ivan Cleary is still asking more than the club is prepared to pay. Pascoe & Cleary are very tight, but equally Pascoe & Taylor's relationship has strengthened in recent weeks. Pascoe and Marina Go families are very close.
The club contrary to some prophets of gloom and doom is still a happy place to be. No major signings on the horizon for 2017, the club is exploring whether an attractive trade / swap could be put together as part of Farah's departure. For 2017 - 2020 we appear to have most bases covered and will definitely re-sign 3 of our 4 marquee players and quite possibly all 4 ( Brooks currently ranked 4th / Teddy #1)
As previously stated the club has huge wraps on Ryan Papenhuyzen along with Paseka; Mapesone and course Liddle. Papenhuyzen's goal kicking is improving nicely, though he may not be seen again in 2016 due to off filed commitments.
Nothing else substantive to share, just a personal comment which though it sounds trite is genuinely sincere - Robbie Farah has been a great player for the club, certainly within the top 6 most consistent players we have had since inception. He should be afforded the opportunity for the club's fans to show their thanks and appreciation, but he must and will leave the club at seasons end - which for Robbie will be a send off against the Raiders in the final round at Leichhardt - I'm told if we're out of contention he will be in the starting side if not possibly on the bench ( provided the exit strategy has been finalized)

one thing in ur notes above worries me how was MILONE put in the top 25, was he not out for the season before drinkwater left the club, seems strange to me.

I was thinking recently of what Robbie was actually guilty of, the only thing that stuck was his comment about PM Gilliard that was completely out of place to such a remarkable woman. Based on what she achieved with a hung senate. Now this is the main reason (may be) that he is being harassed out, I find a bit hard to believe after all this time. Yes all professional women would be upset at captain Farah's comments but a bit late to hang him up by the long and ….... over that. That is only a excuse. We have had three more prime ministers since then.

I certainly don't think it was about ex-Prime Minister Gillard. Think somebody on the Board?

Farah's comment on Gilliard wasn't necessarily against women at all. Women were saying just as bad at the time. It may not have been pleasant but it wasn't the worse.

It's hard to know anything in the abstract but making a sexist joke about the CEO of a club wouldn't likely be grounds for termination of a playing contract. It would be a very bad move on the part of the club to try and terminate on that basis when it's already known to Farah (and the public) that the club are trying to move him on. If they were going to try and terminate for breach (and avoid paying him) then they would want to be on rock solid ground.

Which implies that it was something else, something he said to people other than the media.

Diplomacy in the media is certainly a requirement of a club captain.

oh byron bay i have to take u to task on ur comment ( such a remarkable woman) she was the worse PM this country has ever had and she put woman back 20 years with all that crap that came out of her mouth. ur entitled to ur opinion but i had to comment.

Being completely on topic of course (ha ha). I qualified by what she achieved with a hung senate. She actually passed more than what Little Johnny did in all his years. Whereas Abbott could not negioate his way out of a paper bag and Turnbull gave up and called up a double dissolution. So Gilliard was the stand out one in handling sticky situations - she was miles ahead of the blokes.

Perhaps not, it would depend on the degree of the comment though. I just don't believe that the club are trying to move him on to clear salary cap space.

So much for all the lies spewed out by Jason Taylor about cohesion and performance being the reasons Farah was dropped.
Prompted by the board, obviously, to save his own job.
As for the board - what a bunch of lily livered weaklings.
Whether you like him or not Farah is a club legend - you think they would have the guts to come out and tell the truth.
Farah deserves it and so do the supporters and sponsors.

Torch, do you have any idea which of our juniors (other than those mentioned) we're likely to keep? Tatola, Suli, Marsters, Stone, Jacobs, Karwhin etc?

And in general, the decision to promote Milone ahead of JAC just baffles. Neither should have been on much money, if anything JAC perhaps on more due to his far higher potential. Milone was one well connected kid.

2\. The whole Robbie debacle is about money.

Quote Tiger Torch: "…Robbie.........won't be here next year, he has burnt some bridges with people of greater influence than Jason Taylor!"

Steve...? this doesn't sound like the Robbie we know...?

I never said he was perfect. I'm sure even you have burned some bridges in your past.

Than you Tiger Torch for confirming what most rational people on here already knew about the Farah situation. As you said:

"So in summary Farah was in fact dropped to force his hand to find the $450k to sign ET"

Yet the Farah haters still clutch at straws. In regards to JT can you confirm or deny that if we dont make the semis, JT is no longer contracted. Also are you saying that if Cleary comes down in price we would have signed him already?Id hate to lose him to the Warriors or dragons if they let their coaches go.

Rudd and Gillard. No.1 and No.2 on the worst Prime Minister list.

They got things done alright. Put us in debt until the cows come home.

They can't say the truth because it looks and it is really poor. It goes to show though how bad decisions can influence a club for a long time. Robbie should never have been signed on a massive 4 year contract.
