Should go back to a top five until the competition expands to 18 teams and then increase it to the top six.
Theoretically you have to win at least 65% of your games to make the finals.
If you're going to level the competition out with a salary cap, at least ensure the teams have an incentive to perform. Thus far teams outside Brisbane, Melbourne, Manly and St George don't deserve to be rewarded for their efforts this year.

I like the top 5 format, but top 5 isn't ideal under a 16 team structure. If we had it this year only 5 teams would ideally be competing for finals spots. I do like the system how to make the grand final you have to beat EVERYONE who finished above you.
