Congrats to Marika on a fine acheivement, also considering he has spent time injured and suspended this season. No doubt he's an attacking weapons though.

amazing how none of our NYC graduates have make it to any rep teams.

Not yet. Woods, Koro and Sironen won't be far away.

I think its interesting how Woods was unable to make team of the year. At least we'll be seeing him soon in a rep jersey

That is 'a' team of the year. Wasn't implying this year.

He was fairly injury plagued in NYC.

Congrats to Marika, I thought we would get at least 1 of our forwards in Santi or Lovett. Thought Noffa was chance as well.

Carlos Tuimavave is a good player.
Nice bloke too, met him when the test match was in Newy last year.

Only the 3rd Wests Tiger to receive such an accolade (Lui 2009, Miller 2011). Well done.

Also in 2010 Matt Hyland..we get one every year..that's our quota.

These teams are not selected on NYC form. Most of these selections are based on reputation or first grade experience.

In NYC both Tigers and Warriors are in the top 4 and have been all season but can only produce one player each in the "Team of the Year".
Best Warriors player is Liligiifo Sao but hey who has heard of him.

Remember not too long ago this same grade was FOUR levels below first grade

true enough.

NYC is a stronger than Flegg was, for obvious reasons (more focus on it, players eligible previously often played higher, and 20's instead of 19's) but your right it used to be a long way from first grade.

IMO it is a necessary evil of professional footy, if you want players to choose it as a career they have to start it after school, those that miss out can get on with life at 21, keeping them hanging around until 24 or 25 is not fair, and we cant expect kids to start doing something else than quit at 23 to become a footballer, it doesn't work for anyone.

prob not the best path from a footy perspective, but i think it is the only system that works with all the other stuff.

The gulf to NRL and second tier will exist no matter what the format, as the step from part time to full time is too big, it doesn't matter if it is a National reserve grade, NSW cup or NYC, soon as a part timer plays with full time boys it is a massive step
