Don't believe those two make the list of players we could not sign.

we withdrew our offers because they rejected us.

Everyone I thought could see that was what happened, apparently a few missed it

According to The Australian we've moved on from DWZ and are looking to sign Ken Maumalo - would be for this year plus another year at about $300k a season.

Smart.

DWZ is a dud.

KM more well rounded.
I like it.

Yeah I really like Maumalo as a player. Makes massive metres and can score a try. Will suit us well I reckon

Maumalo would be a good signing.

Prefer Ken over DWZ. I can finally mute this topic! Great Friday night now.

Exactly, we offered plenty and thought both would come, when it was apparent neither would come, we tried to save face and say we withdrew our offer. We then bent over even more by saying, if they want to come back to the table, we will listen to what they have to say.
We got rejected, rather than say nothing after our supposed withdrawal, we make it known otherwise.
We got rejected in the dance, then hung around outside hoping for a miracle after the show had finished, embarrassing really

I think so too. Better than isaako or DWZ and sounds like it's a good price too

I really can’t fault recruitment atm in the fact we aren’t paying overs to make it happen.

I wouldn’t either…But no doubt I don’t see us signing 2 quality players in the next month…so the Cap needs to be exhausted each year…you don’t carry over…

Where are all these players who ring Madge, why can't we sign a couple of those

Maybe they are the one's we don't want or have better prospects coming through..

Works both ways..

Well in 3 seasons, he hasn't signed a high profile player, they can't all be not right for us

851,you have to remember we were pretty well choked in regards to the cap,Ivan done a number on us and Hartigan and Madge have done really well with what they had at their disposal..We are going in a more junior, youth development and recruitment path atm and until we are much better within our cap and playing group,we will still struggle for a little while to afford higher quality signings...Rome wasnt built in a day and as many on here have said "we still need to be patient and let Hartigan and Madge do their job"..I honestly think success is just around the corner, hang in there mate, all will be better than the last 10 years...

I appreciate that mate, I have given Madge and Hartigan a rap for their junior recruitment, and bargain buys, but at some stage we need to land a real in demand player.
This would be a game changer for us, I really think Madge turns off the really good players, as @supercoach said, maybe Sheens was brought in to try fix this, I really hope that is the case.

The players we have missed out on that you’ve highlighted have all gone on to have decent seasons, runs for their respective team.
Whilst I agree with the concerns that we can’t land those signings, I am also impressed that the type of player we have been trying to land are the right player for us and these players have proven not to be due signings.
We’ve turned a dud into a stud in Joffa and made the right call on Aloai IMO.
So maybe we are not being enticing enough with our price point but instead of selling out to obtain these players we need to work harder to sell the dream, if we throw the extra ridiculous money at the big fish we will end up like the Titans, Bulldogs and Knights with an unbalanced cap and no depth.
This is where sheens will come in very handy. We need a way to connect all the potentials and encourage them to buy in as a collective. This is how the top teams do it. One signing becomes 2 becomes 3, etc.

Warriors shopping Ken Maumalo around, contracted till 2022....I'd rather him than DWZ or Isaako....he comes cheap too...

I see we got him…..😉😉😉

Most importantly we didn't buckle and take on the dogs poor contract for DWZ.

Again, **well done Tigers for NOT panic buying**.

Agreed, why on earth should we reduce the dogs ridiculous overpayments by taking players off their books

It’s like we have finally learnt not to panic in negotiations. A few years ago I would have loved being a manager dealing with the tigers:

“We’re keen but not at this price”

Tigers 2018 “okay how about an extra $100 thousand”

Tigers 2021 “okay, good luck in your career”

Smart business identifying a position we need to strengthen then be linked to three options for that position. This put us in a situation where it became a buyers market.

The difference is huge. They have to stick to this approach.

I think they have been since Hartigan came on board? Good to see, we lose some big ones, but gain some goers, which will put us in good stead for the future.

Loving the positivity.
Some real naysayers earlier on.

He's is a real deal winger.
Haven't had one of them in years.

I agree, so has a reason been given as to why he is being released?

Don't need your thoughts on this 851 or Avo....just the answer to the question.

Maumalo has a relationship and strong connection with Michael Maguire through the NZ team. Maumalo has averaged at least 150m+ per game through each of the last 5 seasons.
