Stay away from Swansea 2281 ?

@Camel2281 @bathursttiger1

The 2281 is still God's country. Just stay out of Swansea South

So Swansea South must be where Demps lives eh? :stuck_out_tongue:

Haha, I've lived at Swansea south in the past.
There was a stabbing there last weekend and a 16 year tragically lost his life.

Not the friendliest of places but the beaches around the corner are some of the best you can see.

Stabbings can happen anywhere any time cant they @Demps
Doesn't necessarily mean its a bad place.

Drop in.

One of the best take aways around.
Park view Take Away.
???

Well if it's good enough for you Demps and @bathursttiger1 ,
when I'm in the area I'll give it a go.

@MAGPIES1963 i haven't been on the forum much lately, trying to stay away from all the bad news about the tigers. What's this about a trip?? Where you off to? Safe travels. If you make it near Sydney, let me know as it would be good to catch up.

G'day @joebob It's sure been a while since you've been on here.
I think you did the rite thing staying away from all the ebbs and flows being the Wests Tigers for a while now, but gee it's good to hear from you again.
Yep, setting off on a trip around the block as soon as I can with only me to keep myself company...so I dont know who's going to win all the arguments that me and myself will no doubt have.
I may even be in the rite frame of mind shortly to watch the footy videos you very kindly put on a stick for me a few months ago.
I only got around to watching the very 1st match.
Thanks for Your Kind Wishes and I will certainly get in to Sydney at some stage as I haven't looked around Sydney for about 15 years except for the quick trip my wife and I did to your place to drop off my videos.
Edit: I will of course have the Wests Tigers Forum to keep me company.

Ah, so you’re going around the block mate? I’m guessing this time of year, you’ll go clockwise? Am I right?

Believe it or not I haven't made any plans yet apart from 1st stop Casino so I can practice putting my pump up tent up-down, and personal reasons which may take a few weeks.
I heard on my local ABC radio this morning where the Menindee Lakes are at their best atm and I have never been there, so it could be clockwise [as you mentioned] via Menindee.
But I also really want to go to Tasmania.
Stay safe @twentyforty

Fantastic part of the country!!
If you like ocean run trout, get a fishing license and head to Strahan. From there, drive down the Macquarie Heads road past the tassel fish farm, where you’ll find the most beautiful free camping sites on the beach with a view of the famous Sarah Island. You won’t want to leave there when you’re cooking your trout on the beach.
I haven’t seen the Menindee Lakes, but seen some of the Darling and Murray, beautiful country.

@joebob, you very nearly brought me to tears reading your post.
Firstly let me say thank you for these words.
Second, thank you for the hospitality you and your wife showed my wife and I the day we dropped the videos into your place to be converted and put onto a stick.
It was a pleasure to meet both of you [and the slice your wife made for our afternoon tea was delicious].
I hope you and your family have been able to stay Covid safe so far, and please continue to do so in the future.

Seriously, what a beautiful place Tassie is. So much to see and best to have time up your sleeve. When I visited Strahan the weather was miserable (as it's prone to be) but still enjoyed it from an historical point of view. Also made the drive out to the Heads as I wanted to see 'Hells Gates', but you can do a tour of the harbour including a visit to Sarah Island.
My visit was inspired by the book 'The Ship That Never Was' which is an interesting read. And would add a lot more to the visit if magpie is into reading?

G'day @mike This Travel Adventures [thread?] that **You** started has to be one of the best features to happen to Our Forum.
After all the ebbs and flows of a lousy footy season and then even more ebbs and flows re Michael Maguire and the Board, its somewhere to get away from all that for a while, at least until the next lot of controversy surrounding Wests Tigers signings or no-signings.
And it gives **everyone** the opportunity to tell us where they have escaped to after being in lock-down for so long.

Re your ferry trip to Tasmania...when I was living in Sydney and the Manly Ferry battling thru huge waves in Sydney Harbour was shown on the news, I would hop in the car and drive to Circular Quay especially to go for a trip across to Manly and back.
Now, I think I would prefer a nice relaxing day time trip across The Bight.
Stay safe Mike and enjoy your walking.
Do you wear your Merrell shoes/boots when you go for your early morning walk around the block?

I used to work with someone in the ‘80s that did exactly that. He loved those ferry rides where the sight of the Manly ferry would disappear between waves. You wouldn’t catch me doing that.

Of course I wear Merrells. Pretty much the only type of footware I own now.

Hi champion @MAGPIES1963, joining in the WTF chorus of well wishers for your adventure to come.
Mate, you better be prepared for a zillion chats on your travels (and some about footy too!).
Keep some diary notes if you can, it will be amazing to look back at the journey.
And we'll vicariously be there with you, somewhere along the way.

Ferry Trip, awesome. Tassie is a great place to explore.

He'd better hurry ocean run season right now!

Haha yes, they’re jumping out of the tassel ponds. They don’t like you fishing too close haha
The locals are very knowledgeable as well.

Re your ferry trip to Tasmania...**when I was living in Sydney and the Manly Ferry battling thru huge waves in Sydney Harbour was shown on the news, I would hop in the car and drive to Circular Quay especially to go for a trip across to Manly and back.**

Used to love riding the ferry when it was rough. The best trips were the last run Manly to the Quay into the southerly swell, before it got so rough they shut them down for the day. We used to go to the forward toilets and stick our heads out of the portholes and play chicken with the approaching swell, sometimes getting a proper dunking. Back then you could open them for fresh air.
