Someone suggested @magpies1963 travel thread. So here it is. We would all love to hear about your adventures as you Grey Nomad around the county. So when you are ready, let us know.

Is he in England ???

No he is packing up to start travelling Australia, I think this thread needs a live video feed.

YouTube vlog channel.

I'd watch

@MAGPIES1963 is a good bloke.

Some advice though.
Stay away from Swansea 2281 ?

@Camel2281 @bathursttiger1

Absolutely nothing wrong with Swansea. Last week was just out of the ordinary Demps.

I always enjoy dropping into Caves Beach Hotel for a beer and a feed whenever that side of the lake.

Had a real bad experience at Swansea Maccas when I was 18 or 19 though. Me and a group of mates heading home to the Central Coast after a night on the sauce in town and stopped off to grab a feed. Large group of locals tried to roll us in the car park over a few smokes and the end result was a massive all in brawl. Everyone from both sides got pretty messed up incl myself but makes for a good yarn now.

You're from there hey?

I moved to Swansea from QLD when I was 11.

Did you know Tony Squire's went to Swansea high ?

No I did not but Tonza lives about 200 metres away from Swansea High.

I'm about 600m from Swansea High.

Hi champion @MAGPIES1963, joining in the WTF chorus of well wishers for your adventure to come.
Mate, you better be prepared for a zillion chats on your travels (and some about footy too!).
Keep some diary notes if you can, it will be amazing to look back at the journey.
And we'll vicariously be there with you, somewhere along the way.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KlwSJd4b_GQ

Hi to you also @tiger_one
What a great song you put on here.
The tune, the scenes and most of all the words, just beautiful.
I'll tell you a little secret I wouldn't tell anyone else :grinning: ...and that is... I had been feeling I was going to be lonely being out there by myself...but not any more. The "chorus of well wishers" as you said, has been absolutely amazing and given me the strength to keep going forward, so much so that I feel very humble.
I'll definitely be looking forward to chatting on the Forum while keeping up to date with all that is Wests Tigers wherever I am in Aussie.
Thanks Tiger One.

@MAGPIES1963 i haven't been on the forum much lately, trying to stay away from all the bad news about the tigers. What's this about a trip?? Where you off to? Safe travels. If you make it near Sydney, let me know as it would be good to catch up.

G'day @joebob It's sure been a while since you've been on here.
I think you did the rite thing staying away from all the ebbs and flows being the Wests Tigers for a while now, but gee it's good to hear from you again.
Yep, setting off on a trip around the block as soon as I can with only me to keep myself company...so I dont know who's going to win all the arguments that me and myself will no doubt have.
I may even be in the rite frame of mind shortly to watch the footy videos you very kindly put on a stick for me a few months ago.
I only got around to watching the very 1st match.
Thanks for Your Kind Wishes and I will certainly get in to Sydney at some stage as I haven't looked around Sydney for about 15 years except for the quick trip my wife and I did to your place to drop off my videos.
Edit: I will of course have the Wests Tigers Forum to keep me company.

Ah, so you’re going around the block mate? I’m guessing this time of year, you’ll go clockwise? Am I right?

Believe it or not I haven't made any plans yet apart from 1st stop Casino so I can practice putting my pump up tent up-down, and personal reasons which may take a few weeks.
I heard on my local ABC radio this morning where the Menindee Lakes are at their best atm and I have never been there, so it could be clockwise [as you mentioned] via Menindee.
But I also really want to go to Tasmania.
Stay safe @twentyforty

Tasmania Is beautiful just dont be there in winter.

G'day @jadtiger I'm amazed how many on here including yourself say how beautiful Tassie is. Some say it's a little bit like Ye Olde England, and I would love to see where all the Tulips are grown.
No wonder it's cold in Winter...next stop after Tassie is The South Pole and they reckon it gets pretty cold down there :grimacing: .
I heard on the news tonight where winds up to 170 kph had been recorded on the top of Mt Wellington, being the strongest wind gusts ever recorded there.
I'll have to make sure I dont pitch my tent there eh!

Ferry Trip, awesome. Tassie is a great place to explore.

Fantastic part of the country!!
If you like ocean run trout, get a fishing license and head to Strahan. From there, drive down the Macquarie Heads road past the tassel fish farm, where you’ll find the most beautiful free camping sites on the beach with a view of the famous Sarah Island. You won’t want to leave there when you’re cooking your trout on the beach.
I haven’t seen the Menindee Lakes, but seen some of the Darling and Murray, beautiful country.

I love being ON the water @twentyforty, but as I haven't got a body like @Demps I dont go IN the water very often these days.
When I was about 10yoa an Uncle of mine had a holiday cottage at Careel Bay near Palm Beach, and it just happened to be on the opposite side of Careel Bay to where the family that started off Victa Mowers had built a mansion, and their son was my Cub Leader at 1st Burwood Cubs and Scouts.
When my Mum and my two elder bros and I had the occasional holiday at my Uncles place, we would take the row boat out into the bay and sometimes Pittwater near the Naval torpedo range for a spot of fishing, and there was usually more fish than you could poke a fishing rod at. Mostly Bream but also Flathead and the occasional Leatherjacket and Flounder. My eldest brother even pulled in a small Shark one time.
I'm not into fishing now, but I do like the sound of the free camping area near the fish farm.

If your heading up the East coast a place we thought was really good is St Columba Falls, also youtravel past the "Pub in the Paddock" I think it's worth a small detour.

Enjoy your travels.

I have been on Mt Wellington in January as well and it was also snowing that would have been around 1978.Apparently it is not uncommon. The highlight for me was going up the Franklin river from Strahan on a boat made from local pine trees. It was freezing on the deck even with a few op rum and cokes giving me internal heat

Big trip tomorrow.

I leave the house to put the bins out. Almost travel far enough to have to don a mask.

Edit: I just realised that tonight is bin night. Can hardly contain the excitement
