Trial Match v Cronulla Sharks *LIVE Thread

The relationship between player and coach has now changed and just added a competitive edge - that is a good thing for the team and for us the supporters.

As far as a goal kicker in the name on side, doesn’t Brooks, & Lawrence kick for us at times. If Gamble gets a start some where he was a goal kicker for Redcliffe last season.

Marsters is the 2nd choice ATM..

In terms of goal-kicking ability, where would you rate Gamble?

I would play Lolohea over Thompson at fullback, but then again all offseason I've either been behind a computer (getting my info from WTF) at work or at the beach . Ivan Cleary and Brett Hodgson have been testing them out for months on the training paddock.
However, I think I'll still go with my opinion over theirs. What would those two know?

I like our depth in the forwards. Matulino and packer looks solid as. We wont be pushovers thus year…

It's a nice change to previous seasons

Bro…

All I know is my SuperCoach is thrown out if Milne doesn’t play Hahahaha

Twal McQueen and benji are the mysteries for me. Backline players are all fairly close in skill set. Lolohea will probably snag a spot week 1 if he can handle 80 mins of the highball

I wonder what odds Tui is to get a run anyway? Coaches don't have to stick to the named roster in trials.

I got slammed when I said Lolihea didn't look fit enough a couple of weeks ago. Ivan obviously does not think he is if he has named him in reserves. That or he has been out worked by others in pre season.

You don't play someone in reserve grade in your last trial if you intend them to start the season at fullback in 1st grade.

Cleary Looks like he is going to reward the blokes giving everything doesn't care about reputations. Some coaches make allowances for players with talent.

Anyway its hope it puts a rocket up him. Maybe that is the intention. However I would be surprised if he is our fullback in Round 1 based on this selection.

Tui has definetly got in better shape however his still got quite a bit of work to go judging by this photo.
Could explain the move.
But then again I could also be that in the trial on the Cowboys line he crabbed thompson into a corner then threw the pass onto the hill.
I think his prototype player, and Ivan is making sure his gota work for a first grade position.
Same theory will apply to all, McQueen and Lawernce included. I don't expect Rocco to be ousted anytime soon.

The way I see it is that LoLo has the spot for round one and coach wants to give him a full game in NSW cup. While others will rotate positions in 1st grade trial.

All mind games, a chance to take pressure off Tui as there will be a lot of focus given who the opposing fullback will be in round one.

So no working on combinations in the last match condition game before Round 1…different..

Fair point. But I see LoLo starting round 1 so that's the only thing that made sense unless IC has decided that LoLo isn't going to work out and the others are training better. Maybe he wants to see the combination between Gamble and LoLo?

You would certainly have to think the starting backline has the inside running for the start of the premiership.
I am surprised about Lolo missing out, but by the same token, Thomson did well in the trial last week.
Interesting times in Tiger Town.

I don't buy that.
the "pressure" of a final trial - really? They are professional athletes.
Mind game for the Roosters? I dunno if they will be too worried about us.
Every side likely working on their own backyard for Round 1.

More likely it is a big kick up the backside. Blokes are out working you at training.
