First world probs

Well actually from a revenue and community engagement point of view, avoiding major sporting events which many of your fans will be highly likely to be attending/watching is pretty common sense.

The only event in a 6 week window which would pull a 40k+ crowd and impact on the attendance of and bottom line of our one major trial. As a businessman, I would have done my utmost to avoid such a clash, but yes there are a number of elements to consider in pre season scheduling.

Trial Schedule confirmed….

Wests Tigers 2016 Trial Match Schedule

Wests Tigers Media

Tue 17th November, 12:00PM

Wests Tigers have today confirmed the Club’s trial match schedule ahead of the 2016 National Rugby League season.

Campbelltown Sports Stadium will host its fifth Wests Tigers’ trial match in six years, while the team will also travel to Queensland to play its first ever game on the Sunshine Coast.

First on the schedule is the annual NRL d*** Smith Auckland Nines tournament on February 6 and 7 at Eden Park, Auckland, New Zealand.

Wests Tigers’ NRL squad will then come up against the Melbourne Storm at Sunshine Coast Stadium on February 13 and the Cronulla Sharks a week later at Campbelltown Sports Stadium, with both opponents featuring in the 2015 NRL finals series.

Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe said the NRL trial matches will obviously play an important role in the preparations for the 2016 NRL season.

“The Club has been working with both the Sunshine Coast Council and the Melbourne Storm to get that trial match confirmed,” Pascoe said.

“We are really excited to be able to head out to a new area for the organisation and play a trial match, engaging with a new group of fans and corporates.

“Following on from that we will host the Sharks at Campbelltown Sports Stadium, which provides an additional match to the four regular competition games held at that ground, continuing our support for the Macarthur region.

“The Club is also pleased to confirm that all Wests Tigers’ Members for the 2016 season will have access to this match - adding even more value to the packages on offer.

“Both games are significant to the team’s preparation for the upcoming season, with a number of new recruits set to push for a position in the NRL side for Round 1.”

Wests Tigers are yet to confirm the Under 20s trial match schedule, with one game set to be played at Kirkham Oval in Camden.

On–sale dates for tickets will be confirmed closer to each match.

It's only a trial.

Sooo Is there any chance of a live stream from qld this week?
I just noticed that the Cowboys v Blackhawks game is being streamed on their website
Im keen to see some of the new faces on show, especially Rankin

It's the Storm's home game, so they have the responsibility in terms of live streaming - which they are not doing.
Hopefully we'll get some video highlights afterwards.

Slightly off topic, Salesi Funaki and Marion Seve both got across the tryline in the Broncos win over Wynnum Manly last night.

Halftime, (playing quarters)
Tigers were up 8-0 after the end of the first quarter after a clever offload from lovett sent chee kam over out wide. Other than that the young storm side has outplayed us in every department, enthusiasm, especially defence, and composure, running through plays and just generally executing better. Halftime now and Storm up 16-8 through some controlled simple football. Pretty disappointing so far. I'll try to keep you updated.

Brooks on for second half. So far nofo is the only one standing out. We just got held up and on the next play, turned the ball over. (Shakes head)

How did Te Maire go?

Penrith coach Anthony Griffin will have a hard time leaving rookie recruit Te Maire Martin out of his side for the club's opening game of the season against Canberra.

The former Wests Tigers playmaker was the star of the show for the Panthers, mounting a strong case to edge veteran Peter Wallace out of the halves for the trip to the nation's capital on Saturday, March 5.

With regular five-eighth Jamie Soward*away with the Indigenous All Stars in Brisbane, Martin was presented with a golden opportunity to build a case to make his NRL debut next month.

And the 20-year-old didn't disappoint, scoring a brilliant individual try before playing a hand in two other Panthers tries in his 60 minute hit out for his new club.

your just teasing me!

You and Happy could have scored tries against Wynnum Manly..

Just watched the highlights reel. There certainly was some things to like in that package. The left side attack looked comfortable especially. Brooks cut out was lovely. But boy, that try next to the sticks was weak. Think it was Liolavave who looked lazy. Hopefully this area is being worked on.
