Imagine trying to get in a bidding war with Uncle Harry for the #1 ticket.

You would think that after all the money he has put into the club, together with the expectation he will now provide plenty of third party agreements, that the club would have presented it to him as an honour.
Other clubs have bestowed politicians and celebrities as their No.1 ticket holders - this would have been a nice way to say thank you Harry, we appreciate what you're doing (and please keep it up).

While it is obviously a great gesture, it's a bit worrying that WA had to spend the $40k-$50 to buy it at auction and that nobody else was willing to spend that money with the club.

For all of the talk about the independents with great business connections bringing in new sponsors and corporate business for the club, it's taken a an owner of the club to buy our No 1 Ticket Holder at Auction and gift it to one of the richest blokes in the country?

Harry still throws 3rd party deals at the club, we didn't need this to encourage this. Maybe we should have let someone else buy it & WA can just put that money into the club as the owners….

We can certainly agree on that and would even agree on the first use, but when coupled with "have" it just doesn't cut it in that context.

To my knowledge this would be the 1st time this would have been 'purchased' by Wests Ashfield…All the other times is has been 'won' by a punter..

I appreciate the need to butter up the financers but I'm sure there are people out there who have far less and have given far more of themselves to the club, I'd have preferred it to have gone to someone like that. Anyway a good commercial decision and that's what it's all about these days.
