Tuqiri is too slow

is beau a good center?

yeah he played alot/all of his junior footy there, only moved to the wing as the centres were pretty much sewn up by lawrence and collis ahead of him.

As much as i'm a fan of Ayshford, i think i'm more of a fan of
1\. Moltzen
2\. Tuiaki
3\. Ayshford/Ryan
4\. Lawrence
5\. Tuqiri
6\. Marshall
7\. Lui

tbh I don't think Tuqiri would make a good fullback, considering our style of play.
the way Moltzen chimed in tonight for 2 of those tries as an extra ball player … I just dont think that's Lote's game. Sheens has always been a fan of the #1 being another ball player as was seen with Hodgo for years and why I think Gallant wasn't in Sheens' game plan as much as some of the people on here thought he should've been.

i'm not 100% sure of what the best combination will be ... after all it's only 1 week in and it'll take a while for the combinations to gel/strong ones stand out. it's a welcome headache for Sheens to have for a change.

but back on track, lote was awesome tonight!!

Sheens said something very strange at the PC"

"Taniela and Lote will compete for that wing spot"

The context of it was how that left side is key to our attack, and being on the same side of the field as Lawrence, Ellis and Marshall is a dream for any winger.

I was very impressed watching Lote tonight. I knew he was good, but given the little time he has had to train with the team I was happily suprised to see that he exceeded my expectations. He can only get better as he plays alongside his team mates more often. I am excited to see what is in store for us with him in the side.

Lote's effort was top notch. I imagine everytime he touched the ball, the crowd wouldve been on their feet.

I thought Beau went alright and based on last night, and last year's form, doesn't deserve to be dropped to NSW Cup.

It's certainly going to be a welcome selection headache for Sheens when TNT returns.
Let's hope Sheens picks the right combos….

Tim sheens loves the Mind games - This comment was I believe to Bring the best out of TNT as he works to get back (not take his spot for granted). Also a little boost for Ryan.

Beau is young and with us for few more years ….

It's a bit of a no brainer but was still strange.

I don't mind Ryan, he's generaly safe but he's not a great finisher. That try he bombed, a good winger would have scored.

Lote had speed issues a few years back with the 'Tahs & media at he time claimed he was too slow. But, he worked on it with a speed coach and by shedding some kilos. Provided he maintains a lean playing weight, he should be fine.

Tuqiri went well for his first league game in 7 years. Showed reasonable pace and once he adjusts to the pace of the game and gets his timing right, well the Tigers are in good hands out wide. He's clearly better than Moltzen under the high ball so I think the move to fullback is just a question of when, not if.

You know he could even end up playing right centre with Blake A moving either to lock or the super sub??? Last night he played inside Lawrence a couple of times

Seems a pretty simple equation when Taniela comes back.

Ayshford and Lawrence are defesnsive rocks at centre defending inside our halves and both are great ball runners. Neither should be moved. Logic would dictate that, at full fitness, Beau is the one to miss out.

Lote showed great strength and awareness to stay infield on that Stuart tackle and retain possession, instead of trying to play hero and chip over the top, or try and beat him on the outside.

He was also all class in the post game interview. The reporter set him up for a cheap shot at rugby, at which point he answered along the lines of , "I don't know about that, I had a great time in rugby". That sort of class brings credit to the Club.

I was actually surprised at the turn of foot Lote showed. Twice he got on the outside of his opposite winger. On one occasion he kicked the ball infield looking for a support player (bad option considering it was early in the tackle count). On the other occasion he was covered by Stuart (who would chase down 95% of all wingers in the NRL). Even still he showed the class & experience to take the hit, stay infield, and play the ball quickly - all of which set up the opportunity for the match winning try.

There is no issue with Lote's pace. As he proved last night he has the ability to run around his opposite winger and also bust through them. All things considered it was an outstanding debut.

One hell of a performance from Lote considering the week preparation. His post match interview was also very encouraging, it's only one game but you the feeling he is going to be a great addition.

I thought Lote would do well but i must admit he exceeded my expectations. His speed off the mark was good, defensively he wasn't tested greatly but did all he was asked comfortably. No doubts Sheens was referring to the fact that Lote and Taniela will be the wingers and the fight will be over who gets this marquee wing position. Beau will be unlucky because i think the second half of last season he improved greatly. He'll have a good season but unfortunately. It's a no brainer. Unless Molzten moves to half, Beau's looking at be shafted in unfortunate circumstances.

considering he spent quite sometime running into big boy williams im sure he will be more effective this week when he runs and mini and skd

Lote Played well last night…A bit concerned how he runs in off his wing to defend...was caught out a few times..apart from that he had a great game!!

I thought Lote Tuqiri did a fantastic job last night. He only got off the plane on Wednesday, and helped us win a game 5 days later. I think (although I was sceptical at first) he will be a great asset to the club. Great work Lote.

Held my breathe as Lote pinned the ears bag and sprinted down the sideline. When Stewart made the tackle, i thought could the gods be so cruel as to inflict injury on Lote, only to see him jump straight up an dplay the ball. I punched the air, and breathed again….

Stewart on the other hand ... wont tackle Lote in full flight again.
