It's not just for power, it's the centre on gravity..... easier to knock over something that is upright than something that is leaning over and into you.I look at it like this - If you're push starting a car
- Do you do it standing upright and flat footed...
- Or do you get down, Lean Forward and get on the Balls of your feet...
It's the later, And why?
Because it increases your strength and power.
It doesn't just apply to forwards....if you look at the great Eric Groathe Snr and to a lesser extent his son, they would lean into the tackler and drive and as the tackler was sliding down, Groathe would straightened more upright and power the legs out if the tackle. Shear class to look at.
