Two Captains

I'm still unsure as to how Mbye gained the captaincy in the first place. He has openly discussed how he didn't want it but Madge talked him round. I'm glad Marshall is involved, but still believe that Mbye is a poor choice.

I guess that gives us room to not have Mbye as an automatic selection, that was one of my first thoughts.

I think it's more that they didn't want to say they had dropped Mbye as captain. Even last year it was pretty obvious Benji was the captain on the field. I've got no issues with it. I think on the field Benji will calling all the shots.

Never saw him say that once. Clearly he’s a leader for the boys otherwise a coach like Madge wouldn’t just pick him.

Just because Benji talked more on the field doesn’t mean Mbye got dropped as captain. Bit of an out there theory.

Not really. I think as the season went on it became plain to see that Benji was the one playing the on field captain's role even though he didn't have the (c) next to his name. I really rate Mbye as a player but I don't think he's a natural captain.

I think this way you get to promote Benji to a captains role without necessarily having to demote Mbye. Win win.

I think Mbye probably does most of his leadership at training. We don’t see him talk much on the field but off the field I’m assuming he’s a really good leader and someone the boys look up to otherwise he wouldn’t of got picked.

Benji does that and he’s more vocal on the field so why not pick both. Also means Mbye could be on the bench at times

He picked Jennings ...
I guess no coach is perfect ..

No problem with two captain's. correct choice I think. Just wonder if this is dropped now to ease in to bad news on Reynolds

How would freeing up 750k that’s dead money be bad news.

I will not be able to cheer Reynolds in a Tiger jersey. Anything getting him out of the club would be good news.

Know all the facts do you or just going off the social media hysteria? Not the thread for this any way

I do not know all the facts obviously. However the facts I do know are sufficient for me to make a judgement on the bloke and form my opinion.

I'd wager you know far less facts and far more hearsay.

We are talking about ***my*** opinion. It is based on what I ***know***. What you think I know is irrelevant to ***my*** opinion.

Having played just nine games for Wests Tigers since joining the club midway through the 2018 season, the 25-year-old Mbye said there was some initial reluctance to take on the new role given his young family and his new arrival to the club before a conversation with Maguire helped ease his concerns.

"I do have a pretty full plate with three kids at home so I did think twice about it," Mbye admitted. "I had some deep chats with Madge about it and we worked it out and this is the outcome.''

"I was concerned with the commitments at home — my responsibilities as a father means my family comes first — and I didn't want to devote too much time than what was needed. But the way Madge is controlling things and the strength of the leadership group we have, the time thing wasn't going to be so consuming for me.''

Really pleased that Benji's been given the captaincy and I think we've all been lucky to watch him play. It is rare to see a player with such a deep respect for the club who obviously enjoys playing so much and appreciates the privilege of his opportunity. I don't think he's always been ready to be captain, but since he's come back he's put the team first and is the leader of this team. What a champion.

Yeh I think Benji is the true leader of this team. He deserves this given his history/performance/results with the club. He showed that multiple times last season. Everyone looks up to him (including a lot of us mere fans) & Moses is a good back-up in case Benji isn't around.

Long term though, I'd love to see Brooks take that opportunity. It'd be a challenge for him, given his perceived temperament, etc. however if it eventuates then he'd have earnt it (in Madge's eyes), which could only be a good thing for us & him.

Maybe we want one captain who will be around after 30 June 🤔

Maybe they are both partnering Brooks in the halves and only one can be on the field at a time

Good call. My hunch is that we are hedging our bets on Mbye being around.

Possibly but I wouldn't think he would be a Captain if he we were looking at letting him go
He would also need to prove himself in one position before we could offload him because no one is going to pay anywhere near $950,000 a season for a 14
I think he will be here full term
I would like to see him in the centres
I know that's a lot of money for a centre but for our team I think that's his best position
He won't be fullback
He won't be on the wings
Unlikely in the Halves at this stage unless injury
Hooker would be very short term
Obviously only my opinion
But he did play well at centre at the end of last season
He was strong in defence and I thought a little dangerous in attack
Time will tell

Actually we are also talking about my opinion. My opinion is that your opinion is based on very little actual fact and many rumours and speculation and bad press. Personally I'm withholding my opinion about JR until the courts sort it out, because I am in possession of a massive lack of factual evidence.

Now what you think I know, about what you know, is irrelevant to my opinion.
