At the right price, Peachey is exactly the sort of player we need.

Nearly 200 games under his belt, origin experience and never gives up.

When you don't have any gun youngsters coming through to sign, these guys do the job.

Agreed. You can overpay for 12 months to get him as we have heaps of cap space. No more than 2 year contract though

Isnt his knock that he is lazy?

IMO 400k is a little overs but I don’t get the “we could have got him for 250 or 200 because no other NRL team wanted him”. If he can get that in ESL or rugby then that’s his value.

We need first graders. There’s not much out there. There’s cap space and roster spots. It’s reportedly a short term deal so I’m all for it ??

I absolutely agree with you. I don't get all the angst about whether we might have paid $100k too much for Peachey. The forum has been saying for ages now that we can't attract top players, so what's the opportunity cost here? Are we going to miss out on a great recruitment opportunity because we've overpaid $100k for Peachey? (If we did).
I reckon he'll be a reasonable fit for us. Probably paying overs but not enough to cause dissent amongst the troops. and not enough to cause us salary cap problems.

Peachey isn't a top player ...definitely not ranked in the Top 50 players

Can you list 1”49 please

Genuinely never heard that. He is known for being very competitive, almost tries too hard sometimes is more the knock and obv like all utilities he is good in lots of positions but not nessecarily elite in 1. Played Origin for NSW though and creates a lot through effort.

Absolutely NO comparison between Peachey and Mbye.

Mbye played FB and 9 at times, ie running spots, and still only averaged 50 meters. Peachey ran for almost 100.

Peachey can be hot or cold...but he always has a crack and is bloody competitive. MUCH better runner, kicker, defender, and all effort areas...

He will be an excellent signing.

Cover 6 whilst AD is out.
Cover center whenever needed.
Perfect 13 for the modern game.
Gets repeat sets with his kicks.
Perfect 14 also for the modern game.

Major upgrade.

Hard to disagree with any of that. Massive upside based on utility value alone however I feel that smaller modern ballplaying lock is perfect for him.

An absolute brilliant signing for this up and coming bright young star. Tigers have a very long history os successful signings spanning over the past 10 years. I am sure this great signing will be another success to add to their long list of successes. Congrats to a brilliant Pascoe and his exceptional board and recruitment staff .. Keep winning

Obviously some of the experts on here should tell us who we should sign instead of constantly bagging
THIS. So much this.
"We shouldn't sign Peachey coz he blocks our juniors progression".
"We need to sign a more senior player to guide the juniors"
"Peachey on $400k is crazy"
"Peachey on $300k is OK"
We shouldn't sign Peachey, we should sign someone better"
No wonder therapists and counsellors are raking the $$ in !

If all you say is true, why are no other clubs interested? Surely he would of been snapped up long ago. I think the lack of genuine interest from 15 other clubs speaks louder than whatever any of us can say here. At 200K worth the risk , even to play in reserves. 400k takes money away from securing a young & up & coming WT player that the smarter recruiters( eg Melbourne or Roosters ) will recognize the potential & snavel , after The WT have done all the work in developing. I understand most,if not all contributors here want the same thing, that is a successful WT club. But Peachy is not the answer. Could end up being part of the ongoing problem.

If he stays fit I think he’s a quality 14. Probably overpaid if the 400 is right but that’s two Peaches to the mbye.

It was reported that 3 other clubs were interested? Brisbane, Parramatta & Raiders.

A 30 year old utility who still can't lock down a single position and hasn't had a standout game in years

I can't believe people are genuinely excited over it. He'll be alright, he ain't gonna do much though

He's another 'former origin player' who we sign way past their prime. Tigers special this one, he's the kind of signing we have made year after year with little success.
