Well, he wanted to play on for this year and the Broncos gave him a contract but quite apart from his injuries, he hasn't been able to crack a first grade spot.

You know it's funny but I really respect Benji for what he's been doing at the Broncos. Some people think it's sad when legends of the game end up dumped to reserves, but the fact that he's still putting in and playing hard, I respect that. He knows he's only peripherally in the Broncos' plans but he's turning up to play regardless. He probably doesn't need to, he probably has enough money from his good years.

The sad part was when Benji left, didn't react well to being put on the bench and his decline in form. At the time I thought it was terrible, but in retrospect compared to the events with our top players this year, it doesn't look so bad after all, and maybe time heals all wounds as they say. He maybe acted a bit spoiled at the time, but at least Benji did have a previously storied career with real top-flight success: premiership, NZ representation, World Cup, Golden Boot.

And now he's back and just working hard to fill the role the Broncos need, I can really respect that.

Yes I agree with you on Benji and why shouldn't he play for no other reason that he enjoys it. As you say time heals all wounds or in Myth Moses' case time wounds all heels.

Highlights on page 3, impressive and looks like a big body.

Maybe Brooks might be playing reggies next year, Gamble at 7 and kicking goals.

By the end of next year I reckon Gamble will be our five-eighth and Reynolds hooker. Line up will be:

1\. Lolohea
2\. Nofo (Right)
3\. Fonua (Right)
4\. Suli (Left)
5\. XXX (MWZ?) (Left)
6\. Gamble ( Right) …. Kicker
7\. Brooks (Left)

Forwards
8\. Packer
9\. Reynolds
10\. Matulino
11\. ET
12\. McQueen
13\. Passi

Bench
14\. Lawrence
15\. Alioia
16\. Twal
17\. Masters

I also reckon that Ivan will use Reynolds' experience and let him play like an NFL quarterback dictating the plays from dummy half in attack and controlling the defensive patterns in defence. He would be the ideal captain. Give him responsibility and he will take it with both hands and run a tight outfit. No more brain-attacks. Look at what Eddie Jones did when he made Dylan Hartley captain of the English Rugby team. Hartley also fell into lapses during games but he took on the captaincy and conquered the world (well almost because they have yet to play the All Blacks.

I wonder what Cleary has told him if he wants to be playing NRL next year. Maybe he's just hopeful.

If he's good …. he will put pressure on Brooks ..... and that's a good thing.
At worst a better back up option than what we have now.

× 2

It seems no player is garaunteed a spot next year. You have to earn it.

It will be interesting if he can play NRL next year what the reaction of the Qld clubs will be. With Thurston having one more year, doubts about Ash Taylor continuing at the Titans and Hunt off to the Dragons, it seems the WTs have really got under the guard of these clubs.

Tyson Gamble vs Easts

1 try assist, 2 line break assists, 8 runs 80m, 16 tackles (3 missed), 3 tackle breaks, 2 forced dropouts

We could use him the same way the Roosters use Watson.

He can play #7 when Brooks is playing Origin next year.

Has got to be a massive upgrade on JLJ and Rankin

No longer calling on the likes of JLJ and Rankin can only be a good thing, but Gamble may well be too good for reggies.
