Ultimate Athlete

I was having a discussion with some mates and we were trying to figure out who the ultimate athlete is that we've seen. I thought about lebron james; speed, agility, strength, vision, leadership, endurance. Thoughts?

best ive seen is michael jordan , ive not seen an nba player come close to being as great as he was . Anderson Silva is a freak as well , and considering he is a great champion in a sport where they all like to talk about how tough they are, from what ive seen he is also very gracious in victory

who's lebron james?

All those traits are similar to an AFL player, but in RL Greg Inglis would have those kpi's coverered also?

I reckon Ky Hurst is a great allrounder given he's an excellent surf lifesaver, swimmer, decent runner and generally incredibly fit, strong and has the stamina to go all day.

And I have no idea who the current world Pentathlon champion is, but they're up there also.

I don't like the guy but Ian Thorpe in his prime

Any guy who can win any event from 100m to 1500m against world class opposition

It is very rare that any human body can be world class at anaerobic and aerobic events

Would throw Haille Gabriseille for the same reason 3000 metres through to marathons

Victor Trumper played league for NSW and cricket for Australia

LA was doped to the gills man. Can't throw him in there.

The answer is Roger Federer. Tennis is the ultimate sport and he is the greatest of all time. He wins.

Sorry Mac If we choose tennis Rod Laver is the man

2 TRUE Grand Slams

And remember Rod was a professional player and was ineligible to play for 6 years against the amatuers and play in official Grand Slam tennis

You could possibly add another at least 5 Grand Slams seeing he wasn't able to play in his absolute prime

Federer has won 17 Grand Slams during what is the most competitive era in Tennis. Taking nothing at all away from Rod Laver, but Federer has eclipsed his accomplishments in an unbias comparison.

His peers consider him the greatest tennis player of all time. Retired legends do. Even Rod Laver does. He's no doubt the best Tennis player of all time and imo he's the greatest sports person of all time too. But I appreciate your opinion and if you rate Rod Laver higher than Federer then that just goes to show that you're a patriot. So kudos.

What happy was trying to say was that Laver won the Aussie, French, US and Wimbledon in the same calender year twice. That's very rare to do in tennis.

Actually Chris what I was making more of a point of that for 5 years because Laver was a professional during his prime years (24-29 ) he was not able to play the French ,Wimbledon ,US and Australian Open he was ineligible to play as they were only open to Amateurs

So that is 20 tournaments he missed out on

See the point I am making now ??

He won 9 Professional Grand Slams also

So if you add that to his 11 amatuer grand slams , Federer still has some work to do to catch Laver

No, I have no idea who Lebrun James is? He can't be that Ultimate if I've never heard of him… What sport does he play?

And Inglis, like him or not, when 100% fit is a far better 'athlete' bar none in the NRL!

Bradman must also come into consideration

Not only was he a fantastic cricketer many believe he could of been anything as a golfer and Walter Lindrum (billiards champion) said Bradman was one of the few people who could push him in Billiards and Lindrum was to Billiards that Bradman was to cricket

I'd put Miguel Indurain up there, Ronaldo and Federer…

Yeah, I'd say Bradman was more of a sportsman also. I'd highly doubt we have seen a supreme athlete in cricket due to its culture.
