Nein, ist nicht. Only been to Germany once.

Would like to go back, but if my heart was anywhere overseas, it's in Spain.

CB,my mum was German and my Dad was Polish…hows that for a mix...I was born in Australia...

My inlaws have been organising a trip to Germany,Poland,France and Belgium next year sometime.Im really looking forward to it as I have never been to Europe...I also have never met any of my relatives from either sides of the parents families,in other words I have never met any Uncles ,Aunties or cousins..Hopefully I may find some when I get there....

German & Polish, almost as bad as having a Croat and Serb for parents …

You have to stop in Dresden. Beautiful city, Munich and Berlin are obvious stops also.

That's a shame, I could have had a partner to bounce my piss poor Deutsch off (learning it at the moment.)

CB,you will be fine learning German,it is a beautiful language….Mum told me that with the language there are two main types,I will try and express what she told me...

1.Slang or lower German...
2.High German the main language of Germany...this is spoken in Austria and Switzerland...

Depending which part of Germany you are from either one is spoken in different villages and towns...

I hope you have fun learning the language,it will be an educational adventure for you, best of luck mate have fun.....

Cheers TT, I'm learning from a programme so I would assume it's "proper" German, in much the way that these programmes teach proper English.

Still can't get my head around the "the" rule… When it's meant to be die, der, den or das...
