fair to say when he was most unlucky, the selectors got it right! the guy they picked did ok

Given some of the blokes that have played recently for NSW, there are alot of blokes from alot of eras that wish they were born in the 80's

LOL Watto Teevan was a better player than Brunker , but don't get me started on Teevan again :rant

Goose Spina was wanted by some selectors after a trial that was held between the NSWRL Qlders and the Qld based Qlders

Was actually at that game and Spina totally outplayed Alfie . Alf was lucky Uncle Dud Beattie and Tommy was in his corner and they managed to convince Bennett and Lewis to back Langer if he could play well on a short tour of NZ They played a couple of games in NZ and the rest was history

Darren Britt was a great player. Loved watching him play, does anyone know if he was a Blue or a Maroon? He would of more than held his own in SOO….he was a hard bastard

Britt was a NSW player (but never played) Good player as you said FTB

Almost got him mixed with Darren Fritz who was a Qlder He wasn't a good player imo

Thanks Happy….was Britt's nickname "Edgar" by any chance (pretty sure it was)? If it was then that should have got him into the team on it's own :slight_smile: . Yeah Darren Fritz was a huge man but didn't really seem to have that feral trait in him that would have made him a scary proposition.

I think Merritt is extremely unlucky to not have played SOO especially when players like McManus, Steve Turner and Quinn played on the wing for NSW. Nathan Blacklock was unlucky too as Ainscough ( not too sure how to spell his last name) played but Nathan was obviously more talented. Skando should have been selected at some point in his career too.

Who do you think?

While he can find the try-line with ease, his defense is poor to okay. In origin I think he could be found-out. It saddens me to say so, but some players just aren't fit for origin and I think he is one of them.

Here's hoping he gets an opportunity though to prove me wrong. I think he deserves that opportunity at least.
