Utai?

I think your right, I think he was only signed on for this season. I'd personally like to see him signed on for next season, as some other poster said, he only provides more depth, experience and solid 'go foward' (something we've really lacked in recent years).

I do think however, he would be more effective as a foward as opposed to playing in the backline. He was a great winger in his early 20's as he was much lighter, quicker and more fleet-footed, but I think having aged and become more stocky and slow, his style of play is far more suited to the front row.

The problem with Utai might be the cap, I don't think we can get him on the cheap again:

Win bonuses and appearance fees – Payments for appearing in or winning a game are calculated based on the number of NRL games the player played in the prior year multiplied by any applicable bonuses. For win bonuses, the calculation is capped at 13 wins.
Example: : A player appeared in 10 NRL games in 2010 and now has a 2011 Contract for $50,000 contract fee plus $1,000 per game. His Salary Cap Value would be $50,000 plus 10 times $1000 = $60,000.

Depending on his contract structure, playing allot of games this year might have just priced him out of our club.

I would like him to stay, but not at the expense of someone like Brown or a young forward.

If we cant afford him i would like to see him playing nrl elsewhere.
He deserves to be playing first grade.

I don't think it's a case of not being able to afford him. After the GF Luncheon he was asked if he would be staying next year and said "no". He then said "I'll stay if someone pays me 20 bucks". Several people then offered him 20 bucks! So, looks like he wants to stay but no offer has been made, but, as we all know too well - things change!!
