You can see too he got the interpretation mixed up….it was like he was trying to ground it without having any part of his body on the ground in the field of play...like an up & over diving motion

He needed to touch the field with his left hand and than ground the ball with his right. A good effort though.

I thought Utais try was a try & that the roosters player grounded the ball first.

You cant score a try by coming from outside the field of play without re-entering the field of play. Alan Towell is right. Technically whilst in mid air he needed to touch the ground in the ingoal area first then touch the ball.

It's a ridiculous rule and was unjust in this case because the way Utai backed up and still got there first was a brilliant effort from what is a pretty stocky man.

There's nothing wrong with the rule, it's no different to leaving the field of play from the in-goal and catching a ball in defense counting as a 20m tap. All he had to do was get at least some part of his body down before grounding the ball and it's all good.
And about it being unjust, they can't give out tries just because a stocky guy was a little athletic. If they gave out tries for effort then Heighington, Hindmarsh and Gallen would be topping the list.

As far as I'm aware, that'd be fine. If he could do a handstand whilst grounding the ball I'd be a lot more impressed though.

Correct - and probably had he place one hand on the ground and the other on the ball they would have paid it as simaltaneous grounding - and had he done it waering a tutu, a funny hat and a red nose and being such a stocky little guy he would have got a contract with circus oz.
