Val Holmes

Thompson is a better fullback and a loyal team player. Holmes is living the Dugan “fullback money” fantasy. Our new culture is all about the team, there’s no ‘I’ in team .. get on the bus for the right reasons or stay put and dig your heels in at the sharks.

Todd Carney back in Shire playing for their feeder club Newtown … might have something to do with Holmes not being happy ??

Where does or can Carney play .. fullback, 5/8 and number 7\. Another fullback at the Sharks won't make Holmes happy at all, now behind, Moylan, Dugan (out with broken foot) and now maybe Carney .. ??

You do realise Carney was previously sacked by the Sharks then he sued them for wrongful dismissal & won a settlement from them . There’s as much chance of him going back as there is for Steven Dank to become the Sharks club doctor .

Meanwhile over at 1 eyed eel they have their own Holmes rumour going …

http://www.1eyedeel.com/forum/topics/holmes-in-hoffman-out

Rumours have emerged that both the Cronulla Sharks & Parramatta Eels are interested in a player trade involving Josh Hoffman & Valentine Holmes.
Reportedly, the Eels will offer Hoffman over whilst paying some amount of his salary and the Sharks are willing to shed Holmes with the Eels taking on his full salary.
This would give the Sharks mountains of salary cap space for 2019 but they would also lose in my opinion, the games best winger. I also believe this deal may be stalled for some time given the recent injury to Josh Dugan as Holmes may be required to fill in the fullback role.

They can have Holmes and we can get Rona.

Doubt Cleary would be giving any positional guarantees or stroking any egos - didn’t work for Tui.

It’s probably just a money thing with Holmes so And I think Cleary values strong ball carrying wingers so he might get better money here as a winger. I’d rather him than mans our tbh.

Also I would think future prospects at sharks look bleak..,,their roster is aging fast and too many idiots there.

For those saying he is a better winger, i ask you to forget what he is better at and ask is he a better fullback than Thompson.

I have my answer.

And I have my answer too. On recent form, Thompson has been the better fullback. Would rather see him play on the wing at the Tigers and that we sign Meaney as the future fullback. Of course, if he is asking for 800 then I'm not sure if we want him.

We all love Thompson, has been the find of the year.

But he doesnt ball play like the better fullbacks. Holmes at least can ball play as seen in the video.

We need a class fullback not a fill in.

Thomspon is one of the best finishers in the comp from 10 out. Thats his strength, wing play.

I'm amazed so many write him off as a fullback. He's had what 2 games there at a time where his form is naturally a little down? A little quick to write off such a talent IMO. Not saying I'm convinced he could be star fullback, just saying it's way to early to determine that he cant.

One of my favourite players, so I hope we get him. Don't care if he plays 1, 2 or 4

New Holmes for Valentine?

Tigers target? Valentine Holmes.

The mail about Wests Tigers making a play for Valentine Holmes is getting louder.
It’s no secret that Holmes wants to play fullback and is frustrated about remaining on the wing at Cronulla. The Sharks re-signed Holmes until the end of next year, but that was on the understanding he would be the Sharks’ No.1\. Corey Thompson is doing a good job at the back for the Tigers, but the club is keen for a superstar custodian and has the money to make it happen.
One thing is for sure - despite trialling in front of NFL clubs in 2016, Holmes has given up on his gridiron ambitions. “It would probably be a bit late now,” Holmes said. “I’m turning 23 and everyone knows how hard those guys train over there after growing up with the game as kids. If I were to have a crack at it, it would have been the time I went over for a trial.”

SMH 2/5/18

Would be great to have him in the side.

Also if Ivan worked his magic on players that we thought were good but not great, imagine what he could with the likes of an val holmes????.?

Really? I'm surprised at that. Cant recall him starting at fullback often at all. Must have played a fee at 1 early in his first grade career when he was a gun fullback in the lower grades making the transition to NRL.
