Just read former North Sydney Hard man Steve Hanson died age 54 of complications of a heart attack.

Played 110 first grade games for North Sydney and Eastern and one State of Origin for NSW which he scored a try.

Was the main stay of the North Sydney pack in the mid 80's to early 90's. Tough prop in a classy North Sydney side that should have won a comp during this period.

I use to work with his brother in law years ago.

54 is way too young.

He was coaching Dundas Shamrocks 17s this year

So sad to hear this news. Great bloke. He was one of my footy coaches at the Hills Bulls and I played and went to school with his son Mitch. RIP Steve
