Vale Terry Williams

Shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of my old friend, Terry Williams.

An Ashcroft lad who was educated at St Greg’s, Terry lobbed on my doorstep back in the early nineties with his bold idea of launching the Sydney League News match day programme covering grassroots rugby league. He was looking for a photographer and I jumped at the chance. I have fond memories of our Friday morning get togethers at the NSWRL in Phillip St where we’d plot the upcoming weekend and generally poke fun at the world.

Terry was a passionate Newtown man, writing the club’s history, publishing a number of Bluebag related books and ultimately he ran the NRL Museum. I’ve never met anyone who has a bad word to say about Terry Williams. Universally loved, he will be sadly missed by so many 😢

Farewell Terry.

Terry got a tremendous send off yesterday at Marrickville.
The Newtown Jets were out in force and I’m pleased to report the Western Suburbs club sent a representative.

Very moving service with brilliant eulogy’s delivered by Terry’s three children.

To quote his son, Mark - the funeral attendance here today
is 8972 👍
