Wests Tigers will play their opening match of the 2010 Telstra Premiership at the Sydney Football Stadium.
The club has today announced its allocation of home matches for Campbelltown Sports Stadium, Leichhardt Oval, Sydney Football Stadium, and the Sydney Cricket Ground.
>
Due to the on-going redevelopments at Campbelltown and Leichhardt, along with the structure of the premiership draw, Wests Tigers will spend the majority of the opening weeks of the season in the Moore Park precinct.
>
Wests Tigers will play the Sydney Roosters at Campbelltown Sports Stadium in round eight to mark the official re-opening of the stadium following the $8 million upgrades.
>
The first match at Leichhardt Oval will be in round 12 against the Warriors.
Scheduling of match days and kick-off times for the first five weeks should be released by the NRL at the end of this month.

I thought Campbelltown wasnt open til May … Round 8 is very early. But again the traditional venues cop the out of towners :frowning:

Hi everyone

At least we are not playing the Roosters at the SFS as a home game!! The rest of the allocations were expected, I think.

Bring on 2010!!

Tigergran

True that.

All the allocations were what we expected. After Rd 10 we'll get our true home ground advantage up and running. Will be an exciting time come May knowing the rest of our home games will all be at the traditional venues.

On another note, the 3 games we have at the SFS next year were probably 3 of the most exciting games from this year. Should all be crackers of a game

Geez Campbelltown got a better deal than LO

Im also happy we wont be playing our home game against the roosters at their home.

Finally the club is starting to understand the concept of 'home ground advantage'

Its is good that we have those proper home games (CSS and LO) at the end of the season and we can get that SFS and SCG business over and done with early.

I aways knew the first game at cambo(roosters) would be a good fixture as its the opening anything less than the roosters i.e sharks or out of town would of been a travesty.would prefer saints parra or dogs but to be fair I think moving forward those games two to three each year belong at sfs leichhardt can have souths and we get stg, dogs or parra out at cambo once each year. :righton: :righton:

Looks a fair draw for both grounds. Hopefully the Tigers will draw some solid crowds through the gates.

I dunno what I was expecting, but IMO that draw sucks big time.

Not one big game for the home grounds.

I think it all comes down to the situation in 2010\. This time last year, who knew the game against Parra in Rd 24 would draw 35,000 people? Who knows but maybe the game in Round 25 against Melbourne could decide the Minor Premiership.

You sound surpised…....given the teams we play the traditional rivals go to the WSFS....

Wouldnd't be surprised if Campbelltown is not ready for the Rorters and it gets switched there as well....

what a joke…

Warriors = token fan group
Cowboys = token fan group
Cronulla = who? isolated group of xenophiles who wont travel
Melbourne = and their 7 fans...

it should have been (to be fair)

LO:
Souths
Parra
Cowboys
Melbourne

CO:
Bulldogs
Cronulla
Canberra
Warriors

SFS
Titans
Roosters
Penrith

SCG
Manly

Leichhardt got shafted big time the 3 teams the most distance from Sydney plus the lowest performing and drawing team in Sydney,it is poor allocation as far as i am concerned

Hi everyone

If this was to be the case (and wouldn't we love to be in that position), the venue would probably be changed!!

come on seriosuly it's obvious why the tigers have allocated outer sydney teams to the smaller traditional stadiums. for years supporters of the tigers and the away team have struggled to find a seat comfortably, to watch a game. i know us wests tigers fans like nothing more then sitting on the hill and standing behind the tunnel, myself included but not everyone is like that, especially those with young famlies. IMO that is why the tigers have allocated the home grounds as they have. so which ever way you look at it theres bound to be someone unhappy. if the tigers come out firing in 2010 which i think they will then maybe we can fill the stadiums on our own, theres bound to be 25000+ wests tigers fans out there.

I expected nothing different to be honest except perhaps the Warriors and Sharks at Campbelltown. The Macarthur area does have a large islander population that draws well there and the Cronulla fans seem to travel to Campbelltown quite well over the years.

So be it though. Time for us to get out to our home grounds and support the team

That's it, regardless of the opposition, the fans have to show the club we appreciate the extra 2 home games by turning out in big numbers. Even at Leichhardt this year I think we still pulled nearly 20,000 for the game against the Cowboys.

Perhaps Leichhardt has been dogged as they seem to be able to get decent crowds regardless of the opposition?

leichardt could easily get 30+ if the ground was more visitor friendly.
us locals love the ground but im sure that ppl who support other clubs like the bulldogs arent fond of the oval as their venue is very top notch.

from what i hear they are going to extend the grandstand. does that still stand?

I agree, and I hope that if a big blockbuster games comes at the end of the season the club has the balls to play it at LO or CSS. I would rather have a rival team face us at our fortress rather than a rent-a-ground

Would have been great if just one Leichhardt game was a Sydney side that draws well. (i.e not the Sharks).

Thank god we are not playing the Roosters at the SFS.
