Warriors game

If we can't beat the Warriors without Grant and either Aloiai or Lucy we don't deserve the Top 8

The mentality shown in some of these comments shows why this club has always been small fry and will be for a while yet

The mentality of winning every game? How’s that small fry. Why would you make it harder to win a game? The players don’t need a game off this is their job. They’ve had two pre seasons to get fit

You might be able to make a case if it was the 2nd last round but there is still 7 rounds to go after the Warriors game and we had already made it so giving them a game off will not achieve much if injury or burnout is your concern...

Resting them will do nothing in the lead up to finals that far out...with the chop and change Maguire has done in the past month settling on his best 17 is far more important..that they get as many match games together as they can..

would make more sense resting them against the Roosters. Take the easy W's.

lol imagine doing that and beatin the Cocks

We need the for and against too. Will be very important in a shortened season so always gotta be our strongest teams

Thoughts

Stupidest idea you have ever posted and that takes something because the list is long..

We play Parramatta this week your tip for the premiership just concentrate on that..

Madge has to think about the long and short game

The comments about the shortened season forget players have done 2 pre season and have never played 18 games straight

We don't find a way to rest Harry Grant (1st full season , Aloiai hasn't played a full season without injury or Lucy 1st season playing 80 minutes a game ) and you really run the risk of these blokes getting injured later on when you continual football takes it's toll

So then that questions the logic ...would you rather face the Warriors without the 3 mentioned or even two mentioned and rest one for another game ...or face the last rounds when we need them ready to go without them 100 %

I think he's been rotating the squad inadvertently through his tough stance on performances. WT more than any team have rotated the squad to balance risk of injury with enough game time so players are ready for NRL if the need arises.

Don't forget, Maguire has them playing contact games against the NRL team in training when they aren't picked.

Top 17 need to play each week because quite frankly, we need to upset 1 or 2 big teams and win all the "easy" ones to make it.

No - all in for every game. There's only 10 regular-season matches left and we don't know for sure that COVID won't inflict delays again, or even cancelled matches.

Teams rest players when they are certain of making the finals.

We have no reason to have that kind of confidence.

From our last 6 games who would you rest anyone against

Rd 15 Roosters
Rd 16 Panthers
Rd 17 Eagles
Rd 18 Rabbits
Rd 19 Storm
Rd 20 Eels

My thoughts are being proactive ..rest the blokes before that run home so they are physically and mentally ready

Prefer to see the best team on the park each week and players actually competing for spots each week based upon the prior week.
Currently like prior seasons we lost to the Titans which could cost us but as we all know wrong attitude and any team can win on there day.
Rather see them rest key players via the interchange at the back end of games than non selections.
If you asked the Players what they would prefer think the response would be to play each week as no spot is safe currently.
I am not knocking your suggestion however we are not guaranteed finals football yet until we obtain at least 10 wins for the season with a positive for and against.
Lets not get ahead of ourselves, this game next will give us a better indication how we will compete against the Top 8 teams on the run home.

In a slightly sideways topic.
Is this game still expected to go ahead at Campbelltown Stadium?
Fans I would think not, is there a chance it’s moved to Leichhardt?

I hope so I’m planning on going to that game. There’s been cases in parramatta and games are still going there.

Grant will need to be managed, but we are hardly safe in the 8. Resting players is not an option at the moment in my opinion.

If we were safe in the top 4 it would be different

yep

it would be the same if Roosters rested Teddy, Keary and JWH against us

Lets just hope the 3 players I mentioned aren't injured when we play the Roosters

They can get injured getting out of the shower. Should we stop them from showering?

Or we could live in the real world and acknowledge that Grant is already dealing with a wrist / hand injury and Aloiai has had to almost carry us some weeks with Packer and Twal unavailable

We have a few players that could ably fill in for Grant for a week (Walters and Reynolds ) and two weeks on the bench should hopefully have sent a message to Brooks

Forwards wise we will be back to full strength bar Musgrave and Twal will have a game under his belt

Maybe if we start thinking like a big club we might start resembling a big club

This makes sense. Roosters only do it maybe 2 players at a time at different intervals and with all due respect to the Warriors, it shdn't matter who we use, so long as we play like a team, error free with some energy, that shd be enough to get the win.

NASA's Curiosity rover would hear me laughing from Mars.

Only input I have is....they are professional footballers and have everything at their disposal to maintain fitness and health....they dont need resting unless an injury is restricting them from 100% movement or pain is involved..
Keep playing your top 17 winning games is whats required...Madge and his staff will know if burn out is apparent and will deal with it when it happens....

IMHO, we must play with the best players, especially the games when we are expected to win! We simply cannot afford any complacency.
Remember that just a 2 weeks ago, we were desperate, as many fans accepted that we will be out of the finals for another year.

Heads up this game will be moved from Campbelltown to ANZ/Bankwest

I noticed Matterson had last week off. I'm a fan of resting players when you can because it's a long season and it their bodies get smashed it won't help us over the longer term.
