Warriors to sack coach Elliott: report

Yeah, they only lost 2 games in a row, but something drastic had to be done before things got even worse (which they would have). Better sacking him now then in round 18 when running 15th and no chance of making the finals.

I think Elliott is vastly overrated as a coach. He has never won a single finals game as a head coach, I was stunned when the Warriors signed him. I have seen him on Fox Sports numerous times and I think he'd be a good fit for a TV role.

Agree.
Look at the difference at Penrith. He was soft there and looks like he has been soft at Warriors. Should have stayed at the Raiders, they don't have a history of sacking coaches. Although they now have the most sackable coach in the NRL. Stuart is over- rated.

You also have to factor in that he had 5 seasons at both clubs. By that time you've had the time to get rid of the people you don't want and bring in what you think you need. You can't complain that you don't have the cattle at that point because it is all your cattle.

Apparently Sheenius is interested in the job. He ruined Benji's career. He can ruin Johnson's too.

No mention of Kidwell in the mix though which is good for us!

"New Zealand Warriors have David Kidwell on their radar to replace Matthew Elliott"

David Kidwell has emerged as a front-runner to replace Matthew Elliott as coach of the New Zealand Warriors.

Kidwell, an assistant to Mick Potter at Wests Tigers, was on the shortlist for the Warriors role after Brian McClennan was punted in late 2011\. However, the former Kiwi international pulled out of negotiations after they dragged on past that year's grand final where Kidwell was involved with the victorious Melbourne team.

Elliott wasn't even on the radar of the trans-Tasman club at the time but requested an interview, where he convinced powerbrokers he was the man for the job. However, he was sacked just five rounds into the season and Kidwell has again emerged on the Auckland team's radar.

"Contact has been made and we'd be silly not to look at all our options," said Kidwell's manager, Daniel O'Loughlin. "David is really enjoying his role at Wests Tigers and is grateful for the opportunity. He is ambitious and is a head coach in waiting and we'll look at any opportunities that may arise.

If they wanted Kidwell and Kidwell wanted the opportunity, it wouldn't be fair for us to stand in his way.

Yep. Hopefully it's not before the end of this season though.
