Basically that six players not turning up to the meeting shows what they think of him.

These players don't realise what it says about them, that they think they're bigger than the coach or the club.
Precious spoilt a-holes

Absolutely agree Ink,that's the trouble with the whole of this generation, they don't appreciate the commitments and sacrifices the people before them made so they could have a better life in whatever they pursue….it seems we owe them for some reason and they are better than everybody else.. .regardless of those peoples ages.....sad....

Don't generalise an entire generation…

Why not, these days most of this generation are disrespectful toward elders, parents and employers…I have seen it right throughout my community eg I watched a 15 yr old tell his mum to go and get {EDITED BY ADMIN} at the supermarket the other week.. My dad would have killed me if it was me,but she just took it and payed the bill....as I said sad really...if they have no respect then why should I or anyone else respect them back...however I won't completely generalise a whole generation, some do understand respect, discipline and the correct way of presenting yourself..

17 players went out against St George and showed it doesn't matter what you think of your coach, have some pride in your own performance. Just like what our players did.

edit: wasted my 1000th post on this!!!!

Yep - the most over exposed and criticised generation ever. The difference is that we were not privy to what other players/people in the past were doing in their private lives, so who are we to compare and judge. Young people in every generation make bad choices - fortunately for those of previous generations most mistakes were not shared with the general population to scrutinize.

Demps is the cuzzy man team list dude now….

Taylor stuck solid offering the players a shot at redemption and they delivered...

Be watching closely if the McFadden approach of dumping players has the same effect for the Warriors...or wether Doyle has Cleary's number on speed-dial...

McFadden's approach worked a treat, not only did the new players get a win, it puts a stack more pressure on the dropped players to win their spot back, McFadden beats Taylor on this one.

Congrats to the Warriors coach and team.
Let the six players who were dropped, play park footy for at least 2-3 weeks, so they realise they can be replaced. They can play park footy until they have each earnt a call back up to the first grade team.

Why? We both won.

Dumped players have more pressure than players that have been losing yet suddenly win… thats common knowledge russell...everyone knows that and also the fact JT could win a comp and still he'd have done something wrong, for some people

Some just cant give any credit where its due

That would require too much pride. No one is saying he should be nominated for coach of the yr, but Christ, surely a simple "job well done this week" wouldn't kill people, but they seem to think otherwise.

Pride has nothing to do with it, I am basing my opinion on 18 months work, and I think that is quite enough time to form an opinion, Michael Maguire and every single league commentator agreed that souths were way past ordinary.
Yeh we won and I was stoked, but I still want the coach gone, one win against a team that didn't want to be there is not changing my mind.

The Warriors are the classic example of player attitude not bad coaching ..the example today just magnified the situation ..this attitude has been going on for years , time for the owners of the club to move on getting rid of quite a few then things will change.

The coach dropped 6 players this week and plenty wanted to believe that he signed his own exit papers, well what do you know, 6 new players came in and they won the game.
The coach now has a winning side and the non contributors are left to fight their way back from NSW cup, it is win win for McFadden, he has stamped his authority and the players now know they have to perform or get dropped, a lesson there for Taylor I think.

Yeah right, pride has a lot to do with it. We all know Souths didn't turn up, but neither did the Storm and look how we played in that game. It wasn't about how inept Souths were, it was about our attitude which was first class. And the fact we held it together when Souths found their mojo in the second half. You're pretty clear about wanting Taylor gone and while you might have a point, at least give it a rest for a week. Even if you don't want to credit him, you saying stuff like comparing what McFadden did this week and saying he had a better week makes you sound bitter. You'll have plenty more chances this yr to push the anti JT agenda, the least you could do is give it a break and not try to make excuses to further the agenda when he actually gets something right.

You say the commentators and MaGuire were saying how bad Souths were. Ok, but Gus also said when discussing the man of the match he'd have given to JT. Is there something different about that?

I've been pretty outspoken on my feelings about Farah for months, but even I'll put my hand up and be the first to say he was one of our best the other night. Sure, I still think he needs to go, but I'll give him credit when he deserves it instead of making excuses.

How can the warriors dump 6 players and not be over their 2nd tier cap…..yet we make one or two and proclaim we are over the 2nd tier cap?

I thought Farah was good the other night too, but I think he should go as well.

I have no idea, but they did.

Six Warriors NRL players, including Manu Vatuvei and Ben Matulino, have been dumped from first grade over an apparent late night out after their 42-0 Anzac Day thrashing by the Storm in Melbourne.

Bodene Thompson, Albert Vete, Sam Lisone and Konrad Hurrell have also been dropped for Sunday’s match against St George Illawarra in Auckland.

Coach Andrew McFadden says the six failed to meet team standards in the wake of the hammering by the Storm and had been demoted to the NSW Cup.

“We’ve dealt with this internally after questioning the players involved and won’t be going into any details,” he said.

Media reports say the group went out on Tuesday night until the early hours and some of the players were then late to a team meeting on Wednesday morning.

Vatuvei, Matulino and Thompson were originally named in the starting 13 to face the Dragons, while Vete and Lisone were listed on the bench.

They will now play in the curtain-raiser against Canterbury’s NSW Cup team.

Sione Lousi, John Palavi and Matt Allwood have been recalled to the NRL squad, while 21-year-old Toafofoa Sipley has also been added and is in line to make his first-grade debut.

While McFadden has named 17 players, he will wait until an hour before kickoff before confirming his run-on side.

Going into the latest round, McFadden’s selection options had already been compromised by injury to star signing Roger Tuivasa-Sheck, New Zealand and former club skipper Simon Mannering and Tuimoala Lolohea.

Tuivasa-Sheck (knee) had his season ended the previous week during the win over the Bulldogs.

His replacement at fullback Lolohea (knee) and Mannering (facial wound) both went off against Melbourne.

The defeat to the Storm was the Warriors’ fifth loss in eight matches this season and dropped them to 13th on the table.

On Thursday, skipper Ryan Hoffman had spoken about the need for players to improve the way they prepared themselves for matches.

He said the team had readied well, “but individually, we’re not preparing ourselves to be competitive in the NRL”.

“At the moment, it needs to be very internal focused on the individual to make sure we’re getting prepared mentally and physically to be tough football players on the weekend.”

Warriors squad: David Fusitua, Jonathan Wright, Blake Ayshford, Solomone Kata, Thomas Leuluai, Shaun Johnson, Jacob Lillyman, Issac Luke, Ryan Hoffman (capt), Charlie Gubb, Jazz Tevaga, Shaun Lane, James Gavet, Sione Lousi, Matt Allwood, John Palavi, Toafofoa Sipley.

According the the New Zealand Herald Manu Vatuvei, Ben Matulino, Bodene Thompson, Sam Lisone, and Albert Vete admitted to the club last Thursday that they mixed prescription drugs and energy drinks on a night out following the side’s lopsided loss to the Storm.

Konrad Hurrell told the club he did not partake in the allegations but was out with the players at the time.

All six players were dropped from the Warriors’ squad that beat the Dragons at Mt Smart Stadium on the weekend, with coach Andrew McFadden yet to confirm when they will return to his NRL side.

Warriors CEO Jim Doyle released a statement reaffirming the club’s stance on the issue.

“We’re continuing to deal with this internally focusing on player welfare,” Doyle said.

“We won’t be going into any details and we won’t be making any further comment.”

New Zealand Rugby League acting chief executive Alex Hayton confirmed Warriors trio Vatuvei, Matulino and Thompson were excluded from the Kiwi’s Test squad as a result of the information given to them by the Warriors’.

“The Warriors kept us informed all the way through the process,” he said.

“We have a stance that we’ve taken on this and so based on the information we had from the Warriors the decision was taken not to select those players.

“It’s not just a rugby league issue. It’s an issue that’s across professional sport. The NRL has set up processes around testing on that and obviously with the guys coming into play test matches, they’re subject to testing there as well.

“But this particular issue involves Warriors players and the Warriors are dealing with the issue.”
