Was Dwyer's hit high??

He hit him high, but JWH fell into the tackle. I would have hated to have lost the game because of that hit (because he fell into it) but he got him on the chin. Not report worthy though, glad they didn't call it back.

bollocks - I'm glad you're not my lawyer!

the initial contact was beneath the kneck-head!

and he never fell into the tackle - he went down in the impact of the tackle and copped a secondary shoulder on the chin after the initial chest impact!

Can't remember anyone ever being suspended for a front on tackle that did not involve the use of the arm or the point of the shoulder. It's a non event and a fair cop, given that Jared WH decided early in the piece that Dwyer was going to be his 'bunny'. Bad selection Jared

Never ever a penalty…cant believe people are stating this.

It was just a good old fashioned HIT. Moments like this are what Rugby League is all about.

JWH earns a big tick in my book for the way he has handled the situation I'll retract my earlier statement about him being an a-hole....still a thug though lol.

Mate…what you been watching all season
Its been a penalty anything that connects with the head for several years now, regardless of how hard or soft or how much of a non event it is

If he was cleared has any reason been given why it wasn't play on as he got the ball cleanly and didn't knock on. The scrum should never had been packed we should have had a play the ball.

Well Ink,
He was cleared by both on ground refs, both touchjudges, the video ref, all the roosters players, JWH himself and the match review commitee.
I think the right decision was made.

I agree with Ink.

Personally I thought it was a great shot, but the precedence is 95% of the time such a hit would be a penalty in the regular season. There would have been an enormous controversy if the Roosters had been awarded a penalty and kicked the winning goal with 30 sec to go.

The reason they didn't penalise is the same as the scrum fiasco - refs are too afraid to blow penalties in the attacking half when the game is on the line. They don't want to be the cause of the result. Same reason they don't call offsides or marker penalties in golden point, even if Robbie Farah pulled 2 or 3 unrewarded.

The NRL have ruled the HIT legal…it was scrurinised by the vid ref at the time cause winey Anasta went straight at Kevin Shayne....it was reviewed by the match committee...Dwyer has no case to answer....

how could it be a penalty?

I think it was the right decision too…

But going on what the refs have been ruling for the last few seasons, its totally different....and all we want is consistency dont we???

Be interesting to see what happens should a similar hit occur in the next few weeks....no one will know what to expect.

Sort of

I expect careless, reckless or intentional high tackles to be penalised..

Good legitimate Hits as in Dwyers case do not…
