Watchful Tigers keen to snare Blair

From the Telegraph: http://resources.news.com.au/files/2011/07/01/1226085/225402-the-lost-boys.pdf

_Adam Blair
22 Tests for the Kiwis and 113 NRL games for Melbourne. The Tigers are shedding about **20** players to sign him!_

So who are the 20? So far we Gibbs, Fifita and McKinnon leaving. Payten is retiring. Ryan, Heighington, Brown, Fulton and Moltzen rumoured to be leaving so that leaves 11 more to be released. Anyone got ideas who would be the remaining 11?

I think the following players:

Akeripa, Daniela, Farah, Flanagan, Schirnacks x 2, Lui, Moors, Meaney, Utai, Hyland.

I suspect your sarcasm detector has malfunctioned…

I find it hard to believe that on top of McKinnon, Payten, Gibbs and Fifita, we're losing Fulton, Moltzen, Hino and Ryan and only signing Adam Blair.

Well , if we consider that we may be WAY over the cap next season, yet still trying to sign a very expensive recruit , losing that many players and only signing one becomes alot more believable.

We've let go probably 700-800k worth of talent, and looking at shedding another 500ish, and we're making one signing for 500k max, along with a few contract top ups (probably around 200k up on this year), I don't find it very believable. Surely Humphreys and co are not that incompetant.

I've got a feeling something big is going to happen in the next year or so. Club has obviously got an agenda.

This is purely gut feeling. Heard nothing.

I just don't think a club signs players 12 months previously and in some cases weeks then decides it's time to go. I think we are looking at a major overhaul in playing roster. And at the same time I think we are looking to be going after some big names and new signings.

I certainly hope so and it's not just really bad cap management like some have suggested

My question is Rexx ?? Do you think Sheens is happy with the overhaul of the playing roster . He has been resistant to change in the past (with his playing roster) Or do you think that recruitment has made these decisions for him . I know Tim would have a wish list of players , but you have to ask yourself why has he never really got it in the past and why now ???

Think its pretty obvious that the club has decided to blow up the roster because we havn't had success for 6 years. Whether this was Sheens idea or managements doesn't really matter.

The fact is it has and is being done !

I think it is overdue and am in full agreement.

Benji and his mates had better get with the program. They have had 5 years plus to put it all together and havn't done so and in most of those years we havn't come close. Its a tough world if you don't succeed they will get some else who can, just like any other business.

The Wests Tigers is a club looking and demanding success not a club of mates out for a social game on a Sunday afternoon.

The only surprise is that it has taken so long.

The number of players being cut certainly indicates multiple players coming to the WTs, Blair will be the first and it will be really interesting to see who else follows. Wouldn't mind seeing a young Broncos fullback coming our way, certainly more realistic than Dugan.

It seems the position needing strengthening are Prop, Wing, Fullback and that can throw up some interesting possibilities.

I have full confidence in the WTs management to come through with a stronger roster and look forward to our signings.

It seems as though they have finally woken up to what needs to be done. Its time for a change.New blood is needed and the deadwood has to be cleared. This is something that needs to be done every 3 yrs IMO,particularly if you haven't been getting results, and 1 finals appearence in 6 yrs isn't good enough in anyone's language.I just think next yr it would be realy cool to have so many new faces to breath new life into the place, coz no doubt atm the place is stale, and if Benji and his Kliq don't like it stiff shit

I believe you don't need to change everyone eveery couple of years. You do however need to cycle a couple through every year if you are not suceeding.

Who is Benji and his Kliq ???I thought we were the the Wests Tigers not the West Side Story

I think the implication is that some players at the club who have a lot of swagger have their favourites in the team, so other players not performing so well still get a run.

I think each week said players play badly it becomes more obvious who these "lucky" players are…

I think that is a ridiculous statement and I think what these things reflect is some people on this forum and in the media having their favorites and strong opinions as they are entitled to and then when the coach and club doesen't agree with them they decide it must be some sort of conspiracy. Of course their are factors outside of the opinion of individuals as to who gets picked and of course an ability to blend well with the team and build good partnerships with other players is important as its a team sport and you need to rely on your teammates but to think its a cliq and this stops players ever getting dropped is crazy

If Sheens was to leave as Coach whether willingly or unwillingly, what other viable coach is out there?

Whoopi Goldberg?
