Watson Heleta and Marion Seve

Would you rather re-sign these kids and hope they come good in firsts, or spend the next 10 years hearing fans complain about how we let them "slip through our grasp". People are still banging on about Ryan Hoffman and he's almost retired now.

Agree, you have to have faith in your pathways. If Brooks or Moses went elsewhere we'd be filthy and everyone has to be sacked.

Im dirty on the Hoffman situation (not as a tigers fan, but as league fan) wathcing the Storm pay top dollar for the very best kids 3 or 4 years in a row and claim they built the squad and should be able to have kept it together still irks me.

Im not really a grudge holder, but for some reason cant let this one go!

You guys realise it's also not just what the club wants, but what the players want??!

If we were to have offered Seve 2-3 years at 80k for example he might reject that and say 1 year at 80k and back himself to play NRL in the meantime meaning that this time next year he can sign a 2-3 year deal at 200k a season. He's backing himself to earn more in his second season…

And from the clubs point of view he's barely played over the past 18 months so we need to see some form and consistency before throwing the chequebook at him.

The fact he's been out of NYC for the past 2 months with suspension, then plays one game and get's promoted to NSW Cup shows how far ahead of the others he is and how he's valued at the club.

Heleta is a top prospect too, but will probably benefit from a slower transition and would be happy to have taken the 2 year deal on offer.

Lol you sure that's the reason Seve has been promoted BB? Lol

Yep. Or maybe you're right, he could have miraculously jumped ahead of Heleta who's played far more footy, or even Tohi who's played very well. Or perhaps i'm right and the club rates him higher than the rest, and rightfully so.

Is Lulia injured or has JT simply demanded Seve get a shot at a higher level? Seve is a natural centre where Hoeter isn't and is a much more likley long term option.

The players aren't happy you are discriminating against them with the 4 try Keith stuff

If you don't start calling them by the their best try scoring feats they are downing tools and will forfeit the Cowboys game

Look what you've done now

Found some good footage of these guys from the 2013 Keebra Grand Final run.

You can see why Seve has the wraps but i like Heleta too. He looks and holds himself like a footballer and although i dont think he will make an NRL centre he could be one hell of a back rower.

Interesting to note the left edge attack, Martin, Liolevave and Seve just destroyed everything in front of them.

I keep saying it but Martin is the real deal.

Schoolboy footy from two years ago. If you watched videos of Moses and Brooks in schoolboys, Harold Matts and SG ball you would see even better stuff.

Big step up from NYC to first grade.

Look at Mitch Cornish's struggles to make first grade and he was a year ahead of Brooks.

Yup, that clips been posted a few times, which is why when Liolevave re-signed I thought Martin may also.

I still think of Blake Green and Karlos Filinga, these dudes were supposed to be the next big things and never really kicked on.

Blake Green especially, this dude was supposed to be the next test halfback and never made a proper go of it. I was surprised to see Storm pick him up this year. Luke Branighan had similar types of wraps, never made it.

You can never be entirely sure who will make it in firsts and who will not, there is a healthy level of speculation.

Yet many many players make the step up.

The good clubs have recruitment managers like Peter O'sullivan who year after year identify the right kind of talent. They mightnt get them all but their strike rate for those that kick on is high.

Too old for NYC? yet played the week before?

And I too hope the fact Liolevave, Heleta and Seve have all re-signed might help us re-sign Martin!

Without looking at the comp rules I think you'll find like other age based comps you need to be under the age at a designated time. You don't hit 20 and become ineligible

Yep if you're eligible at the start of the season you're eligible for the entire season.

Lodge is still eligible too.

All this seve talk was a waste from the beggining anyways, Heleta was more of a dominant player than him back in keebra and NYC Holden cup, this kid is gonna shine very quick in the near future, yous just need to open your eyes and see.

Heleta seems pretty handy but Seve won the Peter Sterling Medal so I'm not sure how you can say he was more dominant than Marion at Keebra.

I thought U20s was based on how old you turn that year.
I.e. players that are 20 years old now and turning 21 during the year are ineligible?
